Motor City Automotive Group, LLC Reviews (1)

I purchased a vehicle (2012 Chevrolet Equinox) in the early months of 2015 from Motor City and traded in a 2012 Subaru Legacy with roughly 33,000 miles. After having the vehicle for less than a month I noted how sluggish it felt while operating and that the SUV would buck and jerk. I brought it to my mechanic to have it looked over. He noted that the vehicle had no oil in it at all. I wrote this off as a mistake thinking perhaps when they did the inspection they did an oil change and maybe forgot to refill the reservoir. My mechanic changed the oil and told me to let him know if further problems persisted. Within a span of two months I experienced an issue with the vehicle not starting and thought perhaps the starter, alternator or some other issue was causing the problem. My mechanic drove from his shop location to my home to try and diagnose the problem for me. Again he noted the vehicle had no oil in it and thought perhaps a belt had snapped resulting in the vehicles inability to start. He suggested the next route was having a Chevrolet dealership diagnose the vehicle since the issue with the oil had occurred now twice. The vehicle was towed to Bentley Chevrolet and reviewed by certified Chevrolet mechanics. After a week without the vehicle my mechanic and Bentley Chevrolet contacted me regarding the found issues. The largest issue was that the entire motor needed to be replaced. In addition to the motor issue they explained the fuel pump was bad and that there was a visibly cracked exhaust manifold. They went over additional found issues but these appeared to be the most relevant. The work was completed and the vehicle returned to me. When the issues began (bucking/jerking/oil) I immediately contacted Motor City for guidance as the vehicle had been in my possession for less than six months. I had purchased an extended warranty and was having trouble locating the policy details. I was met with defensive attitudes and an inability to assist with the information I needed. Finally, after repeated calls I was given the information and I reached out to the warranty company. I was immediately told that I would need to pay any out of pocket any costs associated with the policy (deductible etc) which I figured would be the case. However, the representative, while very pleasant informed me that the work would need to be "approved" and to do so I'd have to send in a work order and summary to them after the vehicle was looked over. I was only able to have the work done by approved mechanics in my area and I found only one on the approved list 30 minutes away. I was also told that any out of pocket costs, deductibles, costs charged by the shop for erroneous fees and towing would not be covered or reimbursed. I felt very uncomfortable spending money out of pocket up front with no guarantee of repairs. Additionally, I didn't feel that I should have only "approved" mechanics work on my vehicle when I should have the option to use a reputable company that was closer to me. Since the repair of my vehicle I have made several attempts to reach out to Motor City Automotive specifically Logan the owner and no calls have been returned. I've reviewed and commented on their Facebook page since the date of dissatisfaction up until present time. Last year I received a call I imagine in error by a young sales representative from their business calling to ask me how satisfied I was with the vehicle and if I had any needs for a new car. I explained thoroughly my experience and had said I'd be satisfied with reimbursement for tows, oil changes and a call from the owner. The young man assured me I'd hear back and that my concerns have not gone unnoticed. To date no such call has been returned and I'm feeling very bitter about the lemon I was sold. I traded in a very nice operable vehicle for one that has been a headache and resulted in many costly repairs.
