Review: We purchased a vehicle from Motor Maxx on 7/27/13. The state inspection sticker expired in August of 2013, and had not been renewed for the following year. I asked [redacted] (our salesperson) if it would pass inspection. He assured me that dealers have strict rules to abide by and the car was in great condition and would pass. He assured me that the car had been maintained, and that the lowered price was only because the car had been sitting on the lot for the past year. After purchasing the car we took it for an oil change and inspection. There was no oil in the car, it did not pass state inspection, and had extensive undisclosed preexisting problems, totaling $5456.

We purchased this vehicle under the assumption that this did not have extensive issues. We were told it would have no problem passing inspection, which it failed to do. The sales practices were deliberately deceitful and dishonest.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the purchase price.

To Whom It May Concern:

This is a response letter regarding the charge back notification received by American Express on [redacted], It is unfortunate that she feels we purposely mislead her. We believe this is a misunderstanding on her part, We are not that type of Dealership to do this. We are as informative as can be. We do not know everything wrong with the cars we sell. We carry valid inspections on our cars and have to uphold the laws regarding these inspections. With that being said we have a process in which we sell cars.

First, we do the preliminaries, which is getting information of the customers needs. Most customers come in knowing what they want.

Second, we set up a lest drive normally for 15 min unless customer request longer.

During this time they should drive it, check it over for issues they may

want to address, check out body of car, tires.. .anything that may not

make them comfortable* We allow them to test drive alone to feel more

comfortable with their assessments without the possibility of feeling

pressure from the sales team.

Third, the sates team and customer negotiate and get paperwork signed.

Also, during this time the paperwork is explained. If the customer does

not agree they negotiate some more or don’t sign.

[redacted] during the final process was informed of an extended

warranty in which she could purchase to help with certain repairs, They

are explained to what the warranty covers. They are not pressed to

purchase but informed. She felt this would be a good idea and purchased

it with the car. This was purchased because they were informed several

times that the car is sold “AS IS”, We can’t guarantee that there are no

problems with any car, These are used cars and may have minor issues.

[redacted] contacted our sales team via email. A couple messages later

they spoke with our GM [redacted]. They had explained what the report

found to him* He asked them what they would like us to do to help? They

responded with they wanted their money back, Please note also first

email came 3 weeks after purchase of car.

The vehicle was sold “AS IS”. We cannot give them back their money. We could help them get parts at cost even refer them to a local repair facility, who’s prices are very fair.

As we looked over the repair slip we notice common things that service stations point out to make extra money on customers. They have to make money so they want to replace everything. Seriously some of this stuff is minor and are an easy repair. This car was sold to them for $1500 plus taxes and fees as well as their warranty.

It is also very clear that this wasn’t just an inspection meaning that inspection facilities do not check spark plugs, check engine lights, fuel filters or anything to do with transmissions. However I do understand they are required to get emissions which Motor Maxx Inc does not guarantee cause [redacted] County (the county the car was purchased) does not require them, A sign is posted to reflect this in front lobby.

Being a wise consumer you need to understand that what you're buying may have a defect and need weigh the pros and cons. We feel they did well to purchase a warranty to help with major issue. On the other hand we feel the repair shop is taking advantage of them, We can still recommend a much better service dept than the one they used that has no name. Also save them a lot of money. There is something to be said of a company that gives you an invoice with no company name or vehicle information. How do we know any of this is fact?

We can offer assistance on parts at cost and a MUCH better reputable service center.

Sincerely
