To begin with belts never have warranty. Yes they do have a 25 mile break in. This is the customer's responsibility. The tech is not going to spend 2.5 hours breaking a belt in for the customer. This would result in another $225 on the bill. That is why we had the conversation to tell him how to...

break it in, as we do with every sale of a new unit, or sale of a belt. When we went to replace the belt we realized the secondary in the clutch had a wobble. I called the customer at this time to let him know what the cost would be. It was going to be $500 more. He said he did not want to spend the extra money at the time. I told him if we did not do the repair the belt may not last. He declined to have the secondary repaired at this time. Now he says we never had this conversation, and didn't know about the secondary. My whole purpose of the phone call to him was to inform him about the secondary. He called saying he was going to turn us in to the Revdex.com if we didn't do something for him. I told him if he wanted us to do anything further for him the first thing is to replace the secondary. He agreed at this time to pay for the secondary and a new belt. We would perform the service with no labor. Upon pulling the machine apart it does appear the belt was rapped out at the time it came apart. The belt material was melted all over the sheaves to the outer area. Which means it had to have been revved up to get that far out.  Now we spent an extra 2 hours just cleaning up the sheaves from what appears to have been improper break in. This new belt will have no warranty either. Even a brand new unit does not have warranty on the belt. You can't due to customers not doing proper break in.

The customer picked up and was given instructions again on proper break in. As with all belts there is still no warranty. The secondary was also replaced. This was done at no labor charge. The belt was also discounted. We have done what the customer asked and this matter should be closed.
