In response to the complaint filed by [redacted] regarding work completed by my company, Mount Joy Roofing, to her property at  [redacted], Wrightsville, I would like to provide the following summary and support.

Job Summary:  I was contacted by [redacted] to complete a home remodeling project at her home in Wrightsville.  The project itself was being funded by monies awarded to her by Blue Mountain Community Services.  In consideration of this factor, I was required to submit all proposals and invoices to Blue Mountain who then approved and finalized payments.  Also, prior to payment, all work had to be reviewed by a representative from Blue Mountain, who then also asked that [redacted] agree to the work completed.

The actual work began in the spring of 2014 and was completed in October of 2014.

After I received final payment for my work from Blue Mountain Community Services, I began to receive a series of complaints from [redacted] via phone calls, posts to my business [redacted] page, and eventually by email.  As she then indicated that she would, she sent a letter of complaint to you at the Revdex.com.

In regards to her complaints, I will denote each one separately within my explanation:

1)  I signed a contract with Blue Mountain to complete the job, and then employed Precision Builders as a sub-contractor to perform the actual labor.  Specifically, Ken M[redacted] is the individual who performed the work.

2)  The total amount in payment that I received from Blue Mountain was $21,200, not over $25,000.  (Of that amount, [redacted] requested that $5,200 be spent to re-roof her house and purchase fencing materials; however, these expenditures were not part of my proposal sent to Blue Mountain.)

3)  While [redacted] states that the new tub, which she selected for purchase, is leaking, warped, and needs replaced, I hired an independent plumber, Jake of "Fix it All" plumbing to review her concerns and he informed, in writing, that the bathtub does not leak and no plumbing issues are evident.  However, he did note that the tub had separated from the back splash and any surface water was dripping between the back splash and the tub.  In response,  I asked Ken M[redacted] to return to the property to repair the aforementioned problem, and he has assured me that work has been completed.  (I have remained off the property because of the likely hostile environment which will ensure when I am with [redacted].)

4.  As to the need to replace the bathroom wall, this is a complaint of which I have no record.  Until I receive documentation to verify the problem's existence, I cannot make a determination.

5.  As to the claim that I declared "nothing was wrong with the bathroom," after an outside contractor reviewed the work, the following better explains what occurred:  I requested [redacted] to visit the property and provide an estimate to repair the noted problems in the bathroom.  The company salesman who visited the property did not provide a repair estimate; instead, he presented a proposal to completely re-do the bathroom. No mention was made of an existing mold or mildew problem.

6.  As to when and who is to actually perform the repairs, I have clearly stated that I have and did require Ken M[redacted] to make the repairs.  Despite my series of emails to confirm my efforts, [redacted] continues to reply with the assertion that she will choose who will do the work and the amount to be paid.  In addition, I have received no additional estimates for repairs since the one provided by [redacted].

7.  As to her description of the supposed inadequate materials used in the work, I did not know that she had or intended to re-pain the bathroom, let alone purchase any paint.

Hopefully, this explanation will clarify my position and rectify the complaint; if any additional material is needed, I am happy to oblige.

Sincerely,

Randy V[redacted],
Proprietor,
