Review: Deceptive business practices and charging fees for work not performed,The owner did not do the requested alteration on a pair of pants requiring the addition of a loop and closure button on the pant hems to shorten the pant opening to provide a snug fit around hiking boots. Instead, the owner kept the pants for a month and performed no work.I was presented with a bill for $15.00 but no alterations were made. When we asked the owner and her daughter what exactly was done to the pants that resulted in a $15 charge, they both said they had no idea. The started to guess at what may have been done suggesting the pants were shortened which was never requested. They insisted I try on the pants which then confirmed they were neither shortened nor altered in any way, however, the merchant presented me with a bill for $15. When they could not explain what the charge was for, we insisted on not only taking back the pants but asked for 4 other items that had not yet been worked on,This business is charging people blindly for services never performed.Desired Settlement: Two 25 mile round trip gas trips and my husband being personally attacked by the business owner warrants a refund of our time and travel and a complaint to the IRS since there is evidence of inappropriate customer invoicing and cash collections.

This letter is in response to yours of June **, 2013 regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Contrary to the customer's assertion, we did shorten the length of her pants and the customer was not

charge for any service.

Apparently the order ticket did not fully reflect the work desired. Perhaps the customer used the

terminology she used in her statement. " shorten the part opening". Rather than

"narrow the pant opening". In our business "shorten" indicated an alteration to the garment's

length. The tailor who did the work had not taken the order so he followed the direction on the ticket

as he understood it.

The misunderstanding resulted in the customer's pants being shortened and bill being

generated for that service. Nevertheless, it became evident that she desired some other work.

We did not charge for the work done. She did not allow us the opportunity to correct the error.

(The customer retrieved several other articles of out season clothing that we had not yet

addressed because when they were delivered to us we advised that there was no immediate

need for them.)

We are husband and wife team of European - trained tailors who have run our family business

in Mount Kisco for more than thitty five years. Over those many years we have had very few

complaints about our work but, as in any enterprise, sometimes a customers is not completely

satisfied. We are proud of that in such instances we made every effort to rectify the issue to the

customer's satisfaction.

We are disappointed that in this case the customer rejected our offer to correct the error and chose instead to make

false and derogatory accusation about our business practices.
