Review: I took my car for repairs to the BP Service Station based on a recommendation from a friend. After looking at my car, the mechanic said he would charge me $4,000 to replace the engine. Since I did not have that much money he offered to give me time to see if I could come up with that amount. After 3 months he called to inform me that he needed the storage space for other cars. I agreed to pay him $300.00 for storage and told him I would pick up the car that Saturday. When I called on Friday afternoon to confirm that I would be picking up the car, the owner of the gas station offered to buy my car for $500. I was surprised at the offer and told him I had made arrangements for the next day already and would think about his offer. When I arrived on Saturday morning, the mechanic said he misplaced the key. I had to pay the tow truck driver $50.00 trip fee and the cab driver for travel expenses out there additional $41.00. I told the mechanic that he should deduct that from my what he says that I owe him for storage, and he is refusing to deduct that amount from what I owe. I believe its his fault that the tow truck driver could not adequately tow my car, and I paid to go out there. In addition, the mechanic, [redacted], says there are 2 other people interested in buying my car, including one of the mechanics that works at that service station. I told him I was concerned about him losing my keys or them being stolen and he assured me he would have them on Monday. It is now Monday, past closing time, and he has not contacted me regarding my keys and car. I feel like he is not being completely honest with me about the keys since his friends want to buy the car. He knows that I am alone and that my family is back home in Texas, since I recently moved to the area.Desired Settlement: Can I pay him the $300 that he is charging me for storage, minus the amounts that he caused me to pay for towing and cab ride out there ($209)?
