Thank you for sending me the complaint filed by [redacted] on 7/21/Mount Vernon Square refutes the notion that our policies are “biased"I have attached a copy of the lease that [redacted] signed and agree to on 03/02/with a move out date of 9/1/Please note that in the lease- #(page 8) Notice to Vacate at End of Lease Term – it specifically provides detailed information regarding providing a notice to vacateIt states that "you must give us at least sixty (60) days written notice of your intention to vacate the Apartment at the end of the term"Furthermore, the lease also states that “if you fail to give this notice, you will be held liable for rent for the period for which you failed to give us notice”In addition, I have also attached a copy of the renewal letter options that was mailed and delivered to her unit 6/27/In the renewal letter, she was reminded again that, “if you intend to move out at the end of your lease, please remember that you must give us at least sixty (60) days written notice"By her own admission, she did not provide us with the sufficient day written noticeSince our policy states that the notice must be in writing; an email, or fax could have been utilizedIn addition, we have a drop box at the management office she could have usedAs I'm sure you can certainly understand, we do not accept verbal notices which is why we explicitly state in the lease and in the renewal letter that we can only accept a written noticeWaiving the charges would set a precedent for Fair Housing in relation to having to waive all fees for residents who were out of town or do not provide the necessary day written noticeIf you wish to speak to me directly regarding this further, I may be reached at [redacted] on Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9a.m to 6p.mIn addition, you may reach me via email at [redacted] .com.Thank youSincerely,Yaw O [redacted] Property Manager
