My original contract with [redacted] was in june 2015,  She notified me of some chipping in the surface of the concrete in the summer of 2016. She also requested that I adjust her timer and replace a backflow valve that had been damaged by her tenants. I inspected the concrete at that...

time and advised her that the pitting was due to the road salt that had dripped on the concrete from the previous winter. I advised her the concrete needed to be sealed and if it got worse we could put a fix material on it but it wouldnt be free.  The failure of the concrete surface had to do with salt from the winter time from vehicles  that parked on the concrete pad. No concrete installer warranties the concrete because it is not there product. The installation was done properly, however the concrete was never sealed so was left vulnerable to elements and conditions beyond my control. Therefore no warranty applies. It is unfortunate that the elements left the concrete pitted, but the concrete pad in the back yard that was poured at the same time is not pitted and the top is not coming up .  There are aftermarket products that can be applied to remedy the situation and improve the look but they are not free nor are my services. The concrete is but one portion of the services we provided and the other aspects of the yard renovation were superb and continuing to function as designed.  To try and come back over 30 months later and claim foul play or say the concrete should be warranteed and repaired for free is way outside the scope of reasonable. The reason the concrete wasnt repaired or remedied is because the owner of the property , [redacted], didnt want to pay for the service. With RegardsCurt M[redacted]Mountain Falls Landscaping8017591892

I am rejecting this response because: You never told me the concrete should be sealed! Cars are parked on the entire driveway and all of the 30 year old concrete still looks great, but only the new places you put concrete have problems and are breaking up into gravel. I think you mixed the concrete wrong, too much water or not enough water or something. Why does the 30 year old concrete look so much better than the almost 20 month old concrete? The concrete did look good when you first poured it and I did pay you in full and was happy with the work, but in less than 1 year, the concrete you poured started breaking away into gravel and has only gotten worse every month that passes.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

This reply is for the letter dated march 8, 2018.   [redacted] admittedly doesnt live at the said property, it is a rental, therefore how would she know for a surety that no salt was put on the concrete. Second , the salt I am referring to is from dripping from the vehicles during the winter.  It was suggested to  [redacted] that the concrete be sealed. She apparently didnt seal the concrete.  The concrete contractor does not warranty a product they do not produce, and further, if the product was not mixed properly the entire surface on the patio and the entire surface of the new piece of driveway would have also failed and become pitted, and it has not.  I am offended that [redacted] would try to use a service to manipulate receiving free services 2 years after her project was complete and accepted by her personally. The only thing I am guilty of is not following through to getting her a price for putting a skim coat over the pitted surface.  Please note , the winter following the installation of the concrete was exceptionally harsh.  I have pictures to prove this fact. Contractors and suppliers of product do not warranty against weather, salt or time and failure of customers to follow advice to seal their concrete. I will not warranty a product I do not produce myself, as far as the installation, it was accepted and paid for by [redacted].  [redacted] did not follow up with me to get a price nor did she recieve any other bids quotes to fix it that I am aware of. She wants a freebie, I am sorry she didnt follow my advice to seal the concrete, however this property is a rental and not my responsibility to ensure it is properly cared for.  I will not be doing anything to warranty the product in question or the workmanship as these are not the reason for the failure in the surface of the concrete.
