Mod Studio was hired to do painting, doors, flooring and millwork. As per our the contract, we finished all work as per drawings provided...

by Owner.
The reception wall (Feature wall in question) had a sign to be installed on top of the laminate feature. Mod Studio accepted the Design which called for two 10'x4' laminate covered plywood and 2 - 12"x10' laminate covered plywood and signage. If they were supposed to be flush with each other and if there was not going to be a metal sign, Mod Studio would not have accepted the design as is.
It is too difficult to have that long of laminate (10 feet) on wood and to be flush without any support or screws. We would have had a different design all together. We were assured, by the Owner, that there would be a metal sign mounted on laminate panels.
We had a second option to make the feature work, but since money was a concern, the Owner decided on the original design.
We installed the laminate and we had to wait over 2 months for the owner, who was supposed to have ordered his sign. He was to let us know when the sign was being brought in, so we could come back and reinforce the laminate under the metal sign and flush up the panels.
3 months later, the Owner called us and sent a photo with the sign installed and wanted us to come and fix the panels because they were not flush. We called him and asked him why he didn't call us before the sign was installed. **We went to the clinic and found out that he had changed the sign again and he put vinyl lettering instead.
Our installer went to meet with the Owner and fix panels but the owner didn't show up. The installer called the Owner and told him."I will put a couple of screws under the letters and that will fix the issue", and the Owner gave the go ahead. The installer proceeded and finished the work. The Owner called us and wanted us to change the whole panel wall. We asked him why he changed the sign design and his answer was "I ran out of money and the vinyl lettering was cheaper"
To this day, he has not paid the balance of his invoice of $6960.09.
Attached are photos of the feature wall, perfectly flush and no screws showing.
Mod Studio can't be held responsible for something beyond my scope of work. We were VERY accommodating and went out of our way. We even offered to change the panels and we would give it to him for cost only, just to help him out.
He still has an outstanding balance of $6960.09
We have images to prove all scope of work from the design of the interior designer to what he changed it to.
