price on tires for their trailer.  We quoted him a price for 4 new tires and later that day he called back saying they wanted us to do the tires.  It was during this phone call that he told us they were moving and that the trailer was fully loaded for the move, and they were afraid to pull it to our shop.  He said they were going to bring in two wheels at a time so we could put the tires on, and we said that was fine. On Tuesday they showed up at the shop pulling the trailer.  It was obvious from the tires on it, which were squatting almost flat, that the trailer was grossly overloaded.  My mechanic gave him a location to put his trailer, and as with all other customer trailers, we tell them where to park it, but the customers are responsible for unloading and securing the trailer.  He was advised as such.  As he was backing the trailer into the spot to be serviced, my mechanic noticed that the lights on the back were not working.  He asked Justin if he would like us to address the lights, but he simply insisted that they worked.  He then began to unload the trailer and asked us for a block of wood and a piece of metal to put the jack on, as the jack foot was missing and the jack was broken.  We advised him not to set such a heavy trailer down on a broken jack, but he again insisted that it would be fine.  We asked if he could unload the trailer at all, as the trailer was overloaded.  They told us again that they were in a very bad situation, having to move with nowhere to go, etc.  We then agreed to do the tires.  He also requested that the wheel bearings be repacked and the brakes be checked.  He then proceeded to set the trailer down on the block of wood with a piece of metal on it and drove away.  When we went out to begin the job (a few minutes after he had dropped off the trailer), we noticed the trailer jack bent and leaning over to one side- we took photos of the bent jack.  Before we could perform any work on the trailer we had to secure it properly.  We did this by lifting the trailer off the broken jack and placing two jack stands under the tongue to fully support the trailer.  We then performed the work.  The trailer was done and ready to be picked up on 7/18/17.  He was supposed to pick it up that day, so we set the trailer back down on his jack, but being more mindful about securing the wheels of the trailer so they could not roll.  He did not pick up trailer until 7/21/17. When he arrived at our store he began yelling and screaming, using profanities, and blaming us for the condition of the trailer tongue jack.  At one point he calmed down and paid us for the work we did, which we appreciated.  We wish the [redacted]’s the best, however, we are in no way responsible for the damages, nor did I ever say we would compensate them for these repairs.  I did, however, say that we could look into helping them repair the tongue jack.  Which I am still offering.  Regarding their desired settlement, we will send a fabricator out to the trailer to repair the broken jack, which we will pay for.  This can be accomplished as soon as possible to accommodate their move.
