We went out to the home owners home and fixed the area that appeared to be the cause of the interior leak.
As with all roof repairs, we advised the homeowner to wait to complete any interior repairs as sometimes it takes a couple of visits to ensure we
got the leak in its entirety as roofs can leak in areas not directly above the visible damage as water travels its easiest route which is often down a rafter and then shows as water damage in an area away from the source of the problemWe advised him to wait until it had rained a couple more times to ensure this.
He called around 6am on September 19th and I spoke with him, he was extremely rude even after I had had said we would send someone out to address the problem (which is no extra charge - often it takes a couple of goes to fix a leaking roof and this is included in the one time call out fee) and also after he continued to be extremely disparaging about me and the companyI offered as an alternative, to refund his money and he could hire another company if he wanted to insteadHe agreed to a refund and I did this within minutes of being on the phone with him
Given I had advised him not to complete interior repairs or move the buckets in the attic before the leak was confirmed fixed, and have already refunded his money as a gesture of goodwill, I do not feel that we are liable for the cost incurred in fixing his interior.

I accept the business’s response; however I do not agree with many of the statements that were made in the response
1) The “repair” was completed in less than minutesThe serviceman did not want to see the inside of the attic where the leak was coming in (even though I asked if he would like to do so)He assured me that it was not necessary and that the fix was “easy”
2) I left the buckets in the attic for a monthIt rained several days in that monthNote that the date of the repair was *** and the date of the first problem noticed was ***
The leak occurred in the exact same spot and did not travel to any different areas than what was “repaired”
3) I was not extremely rude over the phone, but I was however agitated that the roof leak repair was a temporary fix and that the job was not done correctlyThere was no cursing or raised voices on either end, but the individual I spoke to was quite curt in telling me that I did the wrong thing by having the interior repairs done, and that I should find another roofing company because he was “not going to deal with this”
4) I have since had another roofing repair company come to the houseThey did a complete inspection before performing any work to the roofThe serviceman for this company noticed that there were several issues that needed to be fixed for that area of the roof to perform properlyThey did an outstanding job and I have not had a leak since their complete and thorough repair
