Fox Moving LLC is by far and away the WORST moving company I have ever used in my entire lifeI am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, needless to say I've done quite a bit of moving and have had countless moving companies move me aroundSo saying FOX is the worst, is really saying something
This entire unfortunate experience began with the death of my mother this past MarchI flew back to California from Virginia to help my sister pack up our mother's homeWe agreed there were things that I should take back with me to Virginia
I then began looking for a moving company to help me ship items back to VirginiaI received several quotes and Fox Moving was the lowestI spent quite a bit of time on the phone with their estimator to make sure the estimate was thoroughI even gave him the precise dimensions of my mother's canoe that was being shippedI received the estimate, and was very pleasedThey even included a very thorough Inventory List in my estimate, which clearly listed "Canoe 15'x2.75'x1' "I informed Fox Moving that my sister would help coordinate the piof the shipment, as I had to return to VA
The problems started when my sister tried to find out when they would be arriving to pack everything upFox moving asked my sister when would be a good timeShe indicated that following Friday at 9am, they took this informationFriday at 9am arrives and my sister has still not heard back from Fox moving, as they have not returned her callsFriday comes and goes and Fox moving does not call or show upMy sister then reached Lee Lat Fox MovingLee ** never provided her last name in any emails or other correspondence, just "Lee *** which I should have taken as a sign given how shady that isLee was an extremely rude and belligerent woman who indicated they can come anytime within 48hrs of the requested date/time, but no one had bothered to call my sister and tell her when that would be, or that they would not be there that Friday
Finally Fox arrived at my mother's homeThen I get a phone call from my sister saying the movers are demanding an additional $to ship the canoeWhen I contacted Fox moving they proceeded to tell me that it was a "bulky item fee" and that the estimator "should have told me it would be included"I told them that I was definitely not informed of this fee ahead of time and that the fee was not part of the estimate, and that they should honor their estimateIt would be different if the canoe had not been accounted for in the estimate, or if it had not been represented correctly, but it wasIt even listed the precise dimensions for pete's sake! Lee from Fox Moving proceeded to actually yell at me and tell me my canoe would not be shipped unless I came up with the extra money
This nightmare concluded with trying to receive my items in VAI was asked before the movers left CA when would be a good delivery day for meI indicated May A week before that date Fox sent me an electronic form to fill out to confirm the delivery informationI filled out the form but there was a field asking for a reference number, which I did not haveI thought it was the estimate number, but it was notI contacted Fox to request this information, they never got back to meMay 28th comes around, and no word from Fox movingThe following Monday I receive a text message out of the blue at noon indicating that the movers will be delivering my shipment the next day, Tuesday! As Murphy's Law would have it I was leaving that night for an all-day business meeting in NC the next dayI called Fox and asked why I wasn't provided any type of reasonable notice, why no one got back to me the week prior, or on the date that I had actually originally set with Fox moving? The rudely responded that "the law only requires we give you hours' notice"I persisted that this was nowhere in the contract, nowhere in writing and that I was not made aware of thisThey stated it didn't matter and that if I couldn't receive the delivery on the day they were coming that I would have to pay an additional $to have it delivered the day after that
I ended up coming back the next day from my NC business trip, getting off the plane at 9pm and heading straight home where the movers were waiting to off-load my belongingsThe moving truck which actually delivered my items was a different company which had been hired by Fox MovingI told them this was the worst moving experience I have ever had and that I would NEVER be using Fox Moving againThey indicated that I was not the first person they had heard that from, and that quite a few previous customers had very unpleasant experiences with Fox Moving
Fox Moving, YOU NEED TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS BETTER!!
