We scheduled them to load a Upack trailer on July 25th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. [redacted] called shortly before that to say that they were running an hour or two late. They didnt actually show up after 10:00 p.m., nor did the communicate well during the delay. Three crew members started moving stuff, but soon I got a call from [redacted] asking why the moving truck was parked so far away from our front door. Clearly frustrated from the earlier move, [redacted] showed up and acted like I had somehow lied to him by having the truck 500 ft from the front door. Since we had never discussed where the truck was park, I had hardly lied. I agreed to try to get the shipping company to send a driver out to move the trailer the following morning. [redacted] and two crew members made it to our house around 11:00 a.m. the following day. Things started out okay, but ultimately began to devolve. When things did not go quicker than scheduled (and as he was making calls to other clients to inform them of delays), [redacted] because less and less helpful and courteous. One problem: his crew did not have their tools and so were not able to dissemble a day bed. Once most stuff was on the truck (a few items didnt get in and a few that were not supposed to go did), [redacted] announced they were leaving. He did not offer to see if they could pack things better, just insisted theyd done the best they could (false), accepted payment (at that point I just wanted them gone), and left. Ultimately, the only part of the trailer that was packed high was the back, and even that was clearly not tight enough since, when we unloaded in California, everything from the back had fallen forward, causing all sorts of damage not simply to the boxes that fell, but to all the furniture pieces that shifted and scraped against each other as all that weight came crashing forward. Cheaper items of furniture were destroyed ($400), lots of items bumped and bruised, and numerous valuable antiques sustained damage ($1,600 for repairs, but the pieces will never be the same).
