Moving Right Along TX Reviews (%countItem)

On Feb 6 in the evening, I contacted Lori to see if she had availability to move me the next morning. I sent Lori the owner of the company a $100 deposit that same evening. My friend and I found a cheaper moving company and informed *** She refused to give me my deposit back and told me her policy was a 72 hours notice to cancel. We didn’t have 72 hours because we called her 16 hours before we needed to be moved. I didn’t know what else to do after she refused so I asked her if we could reschedule so I could get a new contract and see if it mentioned a cancellation policy. She was sending the new quote to the wrong email and I got it on 2/11/20 after noon. I canceled again after reading the email and attachment and nowhere on there does it mention a cancellation policy. She is still refusing to return my deposit. She sent me a text and told me that I was right, that if she wants that to be a policy she needs to have it written in the quote, and she told me she is changing her quotes from here on out to state her cancellation policy. She still refuses to send my money back.

I have attached my response to the complaint

I am not one to normally write bad reviews however given my recent experience I felt it necessary to save anybody else the scam that I am currently dealing with. I hired this company 2 weeks in advance because they had a reasonable groupon deal. I don't have many things and just needed help moving my bed, couch, kitchen table, dresser and a bookshelf. I was scheduled to move between 1 and 3. Anthony called to tell me he was on his way at 12:45 by 2:30 they still were not there. The being stuck in Austin traffic is only believable for roughly a 45 minute delay. Finally at 3:30 he called and said there was another crew coming. At this point I'm pretty frustrated. A guy named CJ then calls me and is immediately complaining about the job and the rate I was offered and then demands I pay cash up front. He made me feel very uncomfortable and given all the issues I should have canceled then. The companies mishap is not my problem. The owner is unreachable and I honestly began to wonder if she even existed or if I was the victim of a scam. They finally show up at 6, 5 hours late! The unprofessionalism only grows from here. As the guys are moving my things there a making comments about how they thought I'd be "trippin". I could have been nasty in this situation given the circumstances and chose to be kind because I figured it was not their fault and they were there to help me. The move itself went ok. When it came time to settle payment CJ tried discrediting the deposit I already paid towards the final amount. I told him I was not paying the amount requested as it was way over what was agreed upon and would sort it with the owner tomorrow. Still offered to pay them tip. 30 more minutes go by as he is trying to get in touch with the owner. I nicely explain to him that the miscommunication needs to be sorted tomorrow. It was almost 9pm. I'm a nurse and I work nights and had been up since 10 am the morning before and needed to drive back down south to get my dog. CJ then flips out on me and tells me that they still have some of my things on the truck and they will be taking them. At this point I called the cops because I was scared. I don't know what kind of company this woman thinks she's running but I couldn't believe the level of unprofessionalism and disrespect. Since my move I discovered my TV is broken and my couch is ripped. APD is also aware of this situation. I wish there was a way to upload pictures of the damage and screen shots of the text messages I continued to receive from CJ after they drove of with my things.

Catherine, I can understand your frustration about your move. I told you I was just as disappointed. I feel as though your review was not very fair. First I would like to say, that in no way were we trying to scam you. I am in Mexico helping my sister and I very much exist. I was was in contact with you several times through out the day. Arrival time was 1-3, when you got a call they were on the way early before there were truck issues. I offered to refund your deposit or try to find another crew. Granted CJ was my only option and not a great one by far.. we were technically only 3 hours late which I discounted you for. As far as the damages.. You never even brought that to my attention to be able to offer a claim settlement for you. CJ is not one of my regular crew and should never has run his mouth off the way he did about cash or having items on the truck when he left. With me being in Mexico , he unfortunately felt that was the easier way for him to get his money for stepping in and making sure you still got out of your apartment. As soon as you told me what he did, I demanded he pull over to take a pic to show you nothing was there. Again, this is the first I've heard of you calling the police. At the end of the day, it was an awful experience for you and I understand your point of view. Most other companies would have no showed you and not cared if you got out of not. I try my hardest to be better than that, but it was the 1st of the month and a difficult situation to resolve. I know this should not reflect on you, but the review you left after only paying $100 for your move is not fair when you didn't follow through either. I don't feel like you gave me a fair chance to make this right for you telling the world I am a scam when you never contacted me Again about your claim, or the police.
