I moved to Connecticut in 2012 and chose J.J. Sullivan as my oil provider and HVAC service company, mostly based on their professional advertisement and their location in Guilford. I wanted to work with a local business. At my very first servicing, they told me that my heat exchanger was cracked, but fortunately was under warranty. I need only pay for the time, which ended up being something around $400. That is some warranty. Their oil was more expensive than most everyone else, but deliveries were without incident and annual preventive maintenance seemed to go fine. However, in the summer of 2014, the AC stopped working. This kicked off four service calls over 3 weeks to the tune of approximately $1035. Some of the return visits were seemingly because of mistakes that JJ Sullivan employees made, such as over-filling the freon and not installing the new blower wheel all the way. Exactly one year later to the day, the AC stopped working again. So $1035, plus a few hundred in preventive maintenance visits before July 2014 (which seem to have prevented nothing) bought me AC for one year. I am only bringing this up now several years later because the heat in my house just failed last week, and I needed a new blower motor. As I sat and shivered in my house, I was reminded of the hot summers of 2014 and 2015 and wondered why a company with such a good reputation with so many people could have been so disappointing to me.
