MPG Automotive Services Reviews (%countItem)

El Paso Auto Center referred me to MPG Auto Center for any mechanical issues with my car as part of their program. I was given a 90 days bumper to bumper warranty. After taking me car to MPG Auto Center at least three times and six months later for a "noise" in the front of my car the owner of MPG conceded that the mechanic had dropped the ball and agreed to fix my car. Within one week after getting my car "fixed" I was back at MPG for a noise in the back left tire. When I took my car in for an inspection of this noise the GM ***, immediately came inside the shop and told me the "cover" that keeps the grease in tact for the wheel bearings was missing. I asked how that could have happened and he said "someone took it off." I then told him that no one has seen or worked on my car other than MPG and he said "well, the cover is gone and it's gonna cost you $260.00." I did not see him or any other mechanic take anything off my car or even inspect it before he came in to tell me that the cover was missing. There are many things that can cause a noise in the tires or the mechanism but for some reason, he knew the cover was missing. How is it possible for him to know that without inspecting the car? I believe my car was tampered with and this cover was removed. I have spoken to various mechanics and they all say that you have to remove the tire, then remove the cover in order for the grease to fall out and dry up your wheel bearings, it doesn't "just happen." Once the grease falls out or dries up then and only then will a car start making a grinding "noise." This is exactly what happened to my car. I left my car with MPG for five hours the day they "fixed" the first problem. The grease in the wheel bearings that this cover holds doesn't all fall out immediately, it can take a couple of days...or a week. Something isn't adding up and I do not trust these mechanics or MPG.

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like the following to happen. Refund of $260.00 Oil Change that I was promised and MPG never delivered $35.00 2 days called off work to get my vehicle fixed $$288.00 Restraint on MPG from contacting me, my family or my place of employment;

Case #XXXXXXXX

Ref: ***

In response to Mrs. claim that MPG Automotive Services tampered with her vehicle on 2/23/19, is false.

As you *** see, our first experience with Mrs. vehicle was on 2/2/19 for her FREE oil change service. On this visit an oil change service, battery test and courtesy vehicle inspection was performed. The attached inspection report noted a few items of concern with her vehicle and in particular the technician noted that the dust cover was missing.

On 2/9/19, both control arms with ball joints were replaced. This was not covered after the original purchase of her vehicle and was offered by her selling dealer as a goodwill gesture. This recommendation was noted on the previous service performed on 2/2/19.

On 2/23/19, returned with a complaint of brake noise / pulsation condition. It was determined to be a hub bearing noise and the condition of the bearings were completely dry. It was noted for a second time of the missing dust cap. The service repair and cost were explained to Mrs. and she ultimately approved the service repair.

In summary, what Mrs. is alleging is false, but she is correct that the grease does not expel or dry up quickly. This problem is a direct reflect of normal wear and tear and was probably expedited due to the lack of a dust cap. Again, I want to point out the missing dust cap / cover was documented and noted by 2 different technicians at 2 different time and locations.

In closing, I believe MPG Automotive Services has gone above and beyond for Mrs. in trying to achieve an exceptional customer service experience. Our experience with Mrs. is if things do not go her way, she is quick to tell us that she is going to call the local news stations, Revdex.com, the Attorney General office and is always utilizing her employment status with the state of Texas to achieve her ***.

Customer Response • Apr 16, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First of all, I have never used my employment status or where I work as a form of intimidation. I spoke to *** of MPG once and he admitted that the original mechanic at the MPG located on Alameda, had failed to do a thorough inspection of my car and therefore was "willing" to honor the warranty that I was given at El Paso Auto Center of a $100.00 deductible and that "they" would eat the cost of any balance. If you look at the dates that *** has mentioned, not once does he mention the numerous times that I took my car to the MPG on Alameda for a noise it was making. I admit that I did not know where the noise was coming from, but I did tell the mechanic ***, that the car was making a noise near the brake area. It is not my job to diagnose my car as that is not my profession. I took my car in for this noise several times in 2018. As a matter of fact, the car was making that same noise when I bought it and I was told by the sales person *** to take it to MPG. I took the car where I was supposed to take it, and the 90 day warranty that I was given by El Paso Auto Center was supposed to ensure the fixture of the problem (bumper to bumper). I was told by El Paso Auto Center that I would be receiving a total car care card for my oil changes and the first time I took my car for an oil change to the MPG on Alameda, I was told by *** that he could not give me anything for free and that they had no record of my purchase of the car with El Paso Auto Center and that furthermore, he had no card for me. So after an exhausting 6 months, I was finally able to speak to this *** and he conceded that they had failed to do a thorough inspection and that they would honor my warranty. As per the so called findings of the dust cover "missing" I was never told this. If I would have been told this, I would have had it replaced. I was never told of this dust cover missing. And if there is something indicating that I was told this or that it is on a report somewhere that was given to me, then it must have been altered because I would have never driven away with a problem on my vehicle, never. As a matter of fact, the day that I took my car to MPG because it was making that strange grinding noise, I was told by *** "someone took your dust cover off." He never reverted back to the so-called report he claims to have given me previously where it states the dust cover was missing, because it did not exist and he did not give me any such findings previously. He simply said "your dust cover is missing and someone took it off." My daughter was present and she heard the conversation. On the day in question (the last time I took my car to MPG) no one looked at my car before it was fixed. It was simply lifted. I did not see anyone remove the hub caps, the tire, anything. I did however see *** talking to a mechanic and then shortly after come in and tell me about the dust cover being gone. Finally, I do not have much knowledge about cars. I rely on someone who does to do their job and to keep me safe on the road. I have had to pay for my own oil changes that I was promised by El Paso Auto Center) and have never made a fuss about it. but putting me in danger is another thing. According to ***, if I would not have taken my car in to get the wheel bearings replaced (something he never told me of before), my tires would have locked and I would have been killed. Who in their right mind is going to drive away, ignoring this? I was never told of the dust cover missing in any previous visit to MPG or I would have taken care of it. As you can see, *** has used this opportunity to respond to attack my character, instead of using it to take some responsibility for his mechanics and their lack of honesty and lack of professionalism. As a matter of fact during the only conversation I had with *** in my attempts to get my car fixed the first time, he stated "what do you want...perfection?" No,I want what I previously requested as a resolution to this matter.

Case #XXXXXXXX

Ref: Rodriquez, ***

My previous correspondence was regarding Mrs. Rodriquez claim that MPG Automotive Services tampered with her vehicle on 2/23/19.

Again, the supporting technician inspection sheets prior to the 2/23/19 service visit noted the missing "dust cap" / "dust cover" by two different technicians, at two different locations and the time-frame on 2/2/19 and 2/23/19 indicate that this condition was present at both service visit.

As for the notation that Mrs. stated in her response about the technician inspection sheet "then it must have been altered" is false. For security reasons and rightfully so our management systems will not allow any individual to change, add or alter any completed/paid work order.
