Poor Workmanship -
Terrible Company - Do Not Hire Them. Mason Powell sent a Crew to my Home to Jack and Level the Floor. Crew showed up without even a Jack or Materials to do the Job. They didn't know my name and weren't sure of what they were suppose to do. Mr. Mason Powell promised to Visit my home and Fix the problem. I purchased four Hydraulic Jacks, they left them under my house without Building Piers or replacing the Hydraulic Jacks with more permanent Foundation Screw Jacks. Mason Powell has promised and not kept his word on fixing the problem or sending $250.00 for the purchase of screw type Foundation Jacks (Please note I paid $2300 for Crappy work). Mason Powell did not followed up or kept his word for over five weeks. I have found him to be Liar and completely Untrustworthy. His Telephone number (910) 712-6050 can be traced to several Businesses in North Carolina. He has a Better Business Bureau (BBB) Rating of "F". One BBB had eight complaints, six of which he refused to even respond to.

Do Not Hire this Company or Mason Powell, he makes promises and does not follow through. Tired of his Lies!

MPS Home Solutions failed to perform agreed upon work using agreed upon material and performed said work in such a poor manner it must be redone.
On October 8, 2019 I contacted MPS Home Solutions via Craigslist email in order to get a quote for replacing a vapor barrier. Mr. ***, owner of MPS quickly returned my email and offered a full encapsulation of the crawl space at a much better deal $2200.00 which I accepted. Plans were put in place for MPS to do said work on Monday 14 Oct. 2019. (Columbus Day) A full encapsulation of the crawl with 10 mil plastic sheeting, wrap all pilings, seal all vents with foam board and spray foam, and fully tape all seams.
On Monday I began receiving text from Mr. as his men were running late, initially start time of 10 AM was set, then 10:30-11:00, then 12:00 because of traffic, then 1:00 after they arrived at Lowe's, the two MPS employees arrived at approximately 1:30. Upon meeting the employees I seen that they didn't have the agreed upon materials, they had 6 mil plastic sheeting instead of 10 mil, bubble wrap insulation in place of foam board.
After looking over the material and being assured that the materials would be best for my application I agreed with the said experts and work began. I was immediately advised by *** that they would need to work late in order to complete the job which I agreed upon within reason and I was assured they wouldn't be here past 8 PM. As 8 PM came and went I assumed they were just being precise and doing the job good.
At 10:30 PM *** knocked on the door to inform me they had completed the encapsulation. All seams were taped, all pilings wrapped, all vents sealed and I was good to go. He even offered to return and replace several duct lines at a reasonable cost. Being a disabled veteran at that hour I couldn't do much other than peek in the crawl space entrance and take their word that it was done right.
The next day during daylight hours I decided to take a better look at the work in the crawl space. Upon entering the crawl I immediately noticed none of the seams were taped(as stated) the pilings were not wrapped (as stated) and the vents were haphazardly covered, daylight coming through on some vents and foundation holes left unsealed. There were some of the harder locations to get to that didn't have any barrier at all while throughout the crawl space, what plastic that was put down was simply laid over the old.
Several locations along the foundation walls the plastic was nailed to the piling instead of going all the way out to the wall itself leaving big openings between the wall and the plastic. I videoed my findings and as soon as I got out immediately texted Mr. informing him of my dissatisfaction with the end product and he needed to come and see the shoddy workmanship his employees had done. After several text Mr. assured me he would make it right as he was a "christian man" and it didn't set well with his employees doing such. He went so far as to volunteer to come to my home with a tech and fix it himself, which I said would be fine.
After initially stating how badly he felt about his employees doing such shoddy work it was agreed upon that he would make it right right away, I just needed to give him time to check his calendar and he would let me know what day he would be heading my way, either Friday or a Monday. Those were the last words Mr. spoke to me. At this point I do not want Mr. or any MPS employee to do any further work at my home. I paid MPS with $1000 cash and $1200 in a check. I'm seeking a full refund as I will now have to pay extra to have what they did, removed and replaced.

Desired Outcome

I'm seeking a full refund of the $2200.00 dollars paid to MPS Home Solutions as it will cost me more now to have the work they did removed before it can be done correctly.

MPS Home Solutions started but never completed my project beginning on August 23. Money was exchanged.
Buyer BEWARE! Recently a local contractor, *** of MPS Home Solutions, was hired to encapsulate the crawlspace at ***
*** and his crew arrived on August 23 to start the project and promised to return with an electrician the following Wednesday to install the dehumidifier. After two weeks I became suspicious and called the next company on my list of estimates to finish the job. I was told "you should call a lawyer"!

Ciagrette butts were found under my house. Inexpensive materials were used throughout. Seams and vents were not sealed properly. Pillars were not wrapped. Insulation was not pinned up as promised. A gap for termite inspection was not provided. In short, that which MPS did do was not up to code and would not have been in compliance with a building inspector.

However. *** never returned to complete the job. No dehumidifier. No drain line. No electrician. No explanation.

On October 4, 2019 the account of MPS Home Solutions was removed from Home Advisor. Apparently *** has little regard for his professional reputation as he has not responded to Home Advisor's Fairclaims process nor to any of their other attempts to contact him.

A reliable company redid the project but I am still out $2700.00. I may never see that money again but I implore my readers to stay clear of *** and MPS Home Solutions.

Desired Outcome

I live on a limited income (Social Security and a few assets). I can not afford to lose $2700 nor can I afford a lawyer.

has not responded to me, to Home Advisor, or to you The Revdex.com. The matter remains unresolved.

I paid *** of MPS Solutions on May 6 to replace the sump pump, spray for any mold ,ensure that the pipes from the sump pump leading out to ditch were working properly and to install a vapor barrier. After a rain, I realized that MPS only replaced the sump pump and vapor barrier with the pipe running out of the backyard vent. This meant that any water pumped out would only go right back under the house. I contacted *** the first week of September to inform him that the water wasn't exiting the house properly. He stated he would go by there and take care of everything. It's been 20 days later and he still has not fixed the issue. I paid him $2,000 to replace the sump pump and ensure that any water exists the house properly. He has failed to fix the issue stating that he's too busy with other projects. This issue caused me to have a failed home inspection. Please be warned that *** hires substandard workers, does not do what he says and once he receives the money, will not complete the project in a timely manner nor correctly. I'm asking for the refund of the $2,000 that was spent so that I can pay a reputable company to correct the issue.

I also ran into issues with getting my house painted. His workers dropped paint on the floors, took a month to paint and I received poor reviews by potential buyers of the paint job.
Product_Or_Service: Sump Pump, Vapor barrier

Desired Outcome

Store Credit I'm asking for the refund of the $2,000 that was spent on the sump pump so that I can pay a reputable company to correct the issue.

This company is a slipshod operation. I hired them to repair my house after Hurricane Florence. They came in the cold weather and complained about the lack of heating in the house. I had to purchase a construction heater for them. I also provided the gas for the heater, they would show up when they felt like it and leave when they felt like it. They used my personal tools: Hammers, power saws, air compressor, ladders etc. What contractor doesn't have power saws, hammers, or ladders? They even cut the paddle lock of my cargo trailer so they could use it. Since I was paying for materials, they couldn't be bothered to listen to what I asked for. I specifically asked for 3 drawer kitchen base cabinets. They showed up with door cabinets. The workmanship on the drywall was sub- standard. They wallowed out the openings for the switches and outlets so big that I had to purchase oversized cover plates, and even then some still had visible gaps. They never finished the work.
I not only would NOT recommend them, I would warn you to hire anyone else.

MPS was hired for crawl space mold/mildew remediation and to install a vapor barrier and dehumidifier. The work is poor and a refund is requested.
I spoke by phone with ***, the proprietor for MPS Home Solutions, on 12Apr19. I notified him that the tenants of a my rental property in Norfolk, VA were complaining of a lingering musty smell in the household and that mold/mildew was suspected. *** assured me that this is something his company is licensed for and specializes in. He agreed to do an estimate on 16Apr19.

On 16Apr19, *** concluded that the crawl space did in fact have mold/mildew, and that he would need to remediate, sanitize, install a vapor barrier, and install a dehumidifier. I was advised that it would take two days to complete the job and his team would clean and treat all of the effected areas in the crawl spaces. The total cost for the job was $1800. I agreed to the work.

Despite stating that the job would take two days, the work was completed in a matter of hours on 20Apr19. In the process, MPS Home Solutions damaged the crawl space access door and cut the home internet line for the house. *** discounted total payment by $75 to repair the internet connection and his team returned to the property around 26Apr19 to repair the access door. I paid $1725 to MPS Home Solutions on 20Apr19. Despite my request for an invoice, the company never sent one.

On 14May19, the tenants complained that the odor in the home had not yet been resolved. I notified *** of the concern and ask that he inspect the work that was performed. Initially, he assured me that he would handle the situation and do as I asked. Instead, he neglected to answer his phone and return phone calls, and finally scheduled an appointment for the morning of 3Jun19. *** failed to make the appointment and the tenant called another company to inspect the work.

Worley's Home Services performed the inspection and they are a highly rated, licensed mold remediation and HVAC specialist. I spoked with them on 3Jun19 and they stated that the job performed by MPS Home Solutions was grossly insufficient. The surfaces were not cleaned, the vapor barrier is very low quality and poorly installed, and the dehumidifier is too small for the crawl space. Also, Worley's stated that the issue with the smell was a result of damage and mold/mildew on the HVAC ducting, and that there was a slow plumbing leak in the crawl. MPS Home Solutions never mentioned any issues with the ducting or plumbing following their work. Worley's insisted that in good conscious, they must redo everything that was performed by MPS Home Solutions, as well as replacing the HVAC ducting for a total cost of $10K.

I contacted *** by phone on 3Jun19 to notify him of the situation and request recourse. He insisted that his company does good work and that he never agreed to clean the surfaces, only sanitize them. This is false. He specifically told me his team would scrub the joists and other surfaces, and that it would take two days to complete the job. It only took a matter of hours. He also said that his company can return to the property on 5Jun19 to re-treat the mold/mildew and replace the HVAC ducting for an additional cost of $1200 to $1800. Given that I later learned that *** and MPS Home Solutions is in fact not licensed for mold remediation and crawl space moisture, I question whether they are licensed for HVAC ducting as well. Regardless, given the misrepresentations of the business and shoddy work, I do not wish to utilize their services any longer and I demand recourse.

I am requesting a full refund of $1725 and well as compensation for on month of rent from the property, $1095, as the tenants are now withholding rent in, citing material noncompliance for failure to maintain a safe and habitable dwelling.

Total refund and compensation requested - $2820.

Desired Outcome

I am requesting a full refund of $1725 and well as compensation for on month of rent from the property, $1095, as the tenants are now withholding rent in, citing material noncompliance for failure to maintain a safe and habitable dwelling. Total refund and compensation requested - $2820.

MPS Home Solutions performed substandard work that will not pass home inspection. Also, they admit they owe me $356.07; I haven't seen refund yet.
On 3/19/2019, I spoke by phone with***, owner of MPS Home Solutions. I said I needed mold remediation of crawlspace to pass home inspection for sale of my home. The inspection required a licensed contractor to do the job.

He said he was licensed (later I found out that the company was not; instead the "license number" he sent was the company's tax ID).

He said I would need to pay cash upfront to buy insulation. For a discount, he would like cash for the labor. He asked me to send the home inspection report, which I did by email. It clearly says to "remove all insulation, install new, clean the area, and install new vapor barrier".

*** sent an invoice for $2500, with a discount for $2200 cash. There is no date on the invoice, but I received it March 19. The invoice doesn't note any monies for materials.

On March 28, two workers from MPS arrived, *** and ***. Immediately there was confusion on how much insulation to buy. The house is a two story 2450 sq house, with two stories and a large garage. The crawlspace is approximately 990 sq feet (I learned later from another company.

After consulting with*** by phone, they said they needed $2000 to buy insulation, not including labor. I told them I was surprised by that amount. Later*** told them to buy $800 worth of insulation to cover "one third of the crawlspace". They arrived at the 1/3 figure after they climbed under the house and said two things: 1) there was fungus under the house, not mold, which was "easier to remediate" and 2) most of the joists looked good, so only about a third needed to be treated.

They followed me to Wells Fargo in Centerville, VA whereby I got $800 cash and gave to them in the parking lot. I have the bank receipt for this withdrawal.

They came back an hour or so later and removed insulation from the entrance to the crawlspace. They sprayed those joists down. A greenish material is present. They replaced only that area with new insulation and installed a vapor barrier for entire crawlspace.

Meanwhile I called my realtor who said this was strange- agreeing to only spray 1/3 of the area. She asked me if they were scrubbing- i.e. cleaning- the joists. I didn't think so, only spraying. She said this would be a problem and would not pass inspection. She said I should stop their work immediately. I told her they had been here 3-4 hours and were nearly done, as they told me. After about four hours, they said they were done.

They then asked to be paid for labor.*** earlier in the day told me it would be $2000 in labor, not $2200. I wasn't sure why the lower price, but I gave *** $2000 cash and he signed a receipt showing that.

After they left, I was so uneasy about the work they had done, I called*** and his sales manager, ***. I told them about the $800 in cash I had given *** and ***. Also about the decision to only treat 1/3 of the crawlspace. My realtor was sure it would not pass inspection.

*** admitted that *** only bought $444.93 of materials per receipt from Lowe's.*** admitted that as well. They said they would refund me the $350 plus. MPS sent me the Lowe's receipt. I have not received the funds.

Since March 29, three other mold remediation companies have looked at the crawlspace. They all agree only a part of the space was treated, that it was sprayed, not cleaned, and would not pass inspection. They agreed that I should have MPS do the job properly or get a refund.

*** came to the house April 4, looked under the house and said he would replace all insulation and scrub the joists. That day, he sent an invoice "paid in full" dated April 4 for $3200. He said a higher amount would "show the inspector" that all the work was done, despite the fact that I had only paid $2800. ??

He said he and *** would be at my house on April 6. They did not arrive.

As my home sale is 4/25/19, I have now hired a licensed company to do the complete mold remediation; this cost is $1731.20.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking two refunds totaling $2087.27, for two issues: 1) the $356.07 in a refund for the $800 paid to the company for materials from Lowe's. *** and*** both agreed that this is due me. 2) I am seeking $1731.20 for the amount that I am now paying a second company to remediate the crawlspace. Per this company, the only thing that can be salvaged from MPS's work is the vapor barrier.

Customer Response • May 07, 2019

The owner of the company, ***, reached out to me on or about April 29. He and I discussed the issue involved. He promised to resolve the issue in a satisfactory manner and did so on May 3. I consider this case closed and handled in a fair manner by the company.

This company was hired to place Laminate floor , paint two rooms repair some damaged walls and install some light fixtures. After 7 days only one room of the floor was completed, the owner called me and stated some new employees were going to finish, these three men destroyed my home they broke windows the dollar has to be pulled up in the entire house and replaced, the owner after two months promised someone would be there to fix it . They came and did just as bad as the other ones . When I was disposing if the debris I found syringes that were used with some brownish crystal substance in them. The house looks worse now than before and I'm left to hire someone to fix it..

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like my money that I paid refunded back to me so I can hire someone to fix it
