Mr. Handyman of Dallas Reviews (%countItem)

One star given for showing up in the company truck and having tools. Hired Mr. Handyman of Park Cities to assemble and install flat-packed wardrobe cabinets in a master closet. Design views of the finished installation and a floor plan were provided. All of this was communicated up front. The quote for a day's work for handymen was $1800. When they were done for the day I saw they had damaged the components of one of the cabinets to the point that the entire cabinet would need to be replaced. They did not use the specified amount of the provided hardware (nails, etc.) on any of the cabinets, so the appearance was *extremely shoddy and the product was unstable. I have to replace the damaged items, take everything down, and will definitely build and install it by myself this time. I've done it before, so I know what 'good' looks like. I attempted to save myself some valuable time by paying Mr. Handyman, but that was an expensive mistake.

Mr. we are so sorry to hear about the experience you had with our technicians and the products we assembled for you that you provided. We were only aware from a voicemail you left that you canceled your next appointment for continuing work - and that you were going to be sending us pictures. Please contact us here in the office @ 972-866-7777 to discuss with us and please send us the pictures of the project you have to [email protected].

Great experience with the workers and the process involved.

Invoiced & Paid By Check, But Services Not Completed
Mr. Handyman-Dallas, Estimate#XXXXXXXXX, Job#XXXXXX, Task#1/Carpentry/Modify/Convert under kitchen cabinet area & doors into 2 pull-out drawers on either side of stove. All 4 drawers will have full extension ball bearing runners.
Labor = 6 hrs @ $98 per = $588 + Material = 1 hr @ $150 paid by my ck #5573 Dated Mon/Jul/31/2017 in the amount of $5,752.88 which amount also included a bathroom shower remodel in the amount of $4,920 + Mistaken Overpayment of $234 for services I was later told were already included in the company's insurance, Paid by my Ck#5574 in that amount, Dated Mon/Jul/31/2017, the above amounts did not include the Labor Tax of $94.88.
Since their tech Richard *** left on July 31, leaving the "prototype" cabinets half finished with bad carpentry & dangerous staples sticking out everywhere while he stated he knew a cabinet man that would mill the drawer fronts that would take 4-6 weeks, but I have not seen nor heard back from Richard or any Mr. Handyman (MHM) employees since that date. I have called MHM & spoken to employees Matthew & Harley & was told that JT or Ryan would call me back, but I have yet to hear back from them! I therefore started emailing Ryan & JT, but they have never answered me. I tried to file this complaint before, but could not get through, so I sent an email to your contact email on Mon/12/11/17, but have not heard back from that email, either! I have pictures of the cabinet mess the tech left & pictures of my checks, etc., & any other info you may need to help me get my money refunded for the botched cabinet project that I can email to you. I will also tell you that we were VERY pleased with the other 2 projects their tech did for us prior to the cabinet mess, so we were puzzled, upset & greatly disappointed when the cabinet project turned out so badly & with NO communication response since July/2017!

Desired Outcome

I wish Mr. Handyman (MHM) to refund the above stated amounts paid for the unfinished incomplete cabinet conversions in the total amount of $972. This includes the Labor Charges of $588 + the $150 Materials Charges + the $234 mistaken overpayment, that I was told, was already included in their insurance amount. Thank You!

On behalf of myself and Mr. Handyman, I extend my sincerest apologies for the bad experience you had over the last half of your project. We dropped the ball on this one and should have properly communicated with you to make sure you were taken care of in a timely manner. Here at Mr. Handyman, we strive to make sure we are providing excellent customer service at all times, unfortunately we missed the mark this time. I hope you can accept this apology so that we may get the opportunity for you to give us another shot, and prove to you why we are the best handyman company in Dallas. Please find enclosed (refund) as payment for the amount you had to pay your neighbor to finish out the project as well as a small token of goodwill for my lack of communication while getting this resolved. If you do need us for anything moving forward, please do not hesitate to call.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Th/2/15/18 I accepted MHM's less than adequate resolve of this case just to be done with their un-business-like whining to me to accept their paltry inadequate settlement amount instead of the full refund I requested - just so I, too, could stop wasting my time and close this 6 month long ordeal of being ignored by them and get on with the rest of my DYI home improvement projects. Because of MHM's unprofessionalism in handling this project from start to finish, I will no longer do business with them. I thank Revdex.com very much for helping me get ANY amount from MHM!

We've used Mr. Handyman twice in the past year. Once to repair a door and once to install holiday lights.

Our first experience was wonderful. They sent a carpenter out to repair the door and he did a great job.

The second experience was horrible. We asked for someone to install holiday lights and they sent someone who knew nothing about lights or how to install them.

The end result was we paid $260.00 for materials and over $1,000.00 for labor for four strings of lights. The process took two entire days with absolutely NOTHING accomplished on the first day.

When I contracted for the service I asked that removal of the lights be included in the price. When I called to schedule someone to come back and remove them, the manager JT, assured me they never agreed to that.

When I complained their tech had purchased and installed the wrong lights, JT informed me the tech "wasn't a mind reader", so I was at fault.

He did admit that trying to put up lights with bright yellow tent stakes was probably a mistake; and using permanent screw-in brackets on the roofline, instead of the requested roof clips was an error on the workmans part.

I complained via their online survey and was told someone would contact me. I received no reply.

Again, Manager JT, assures me someone DID call & left a message.
I have no record of either call or voicemail. Oh, and you should know that company policy is they will only try and contact you one time, before they consider the issue resolved.

My 72 year old husband removed the lights (in about 45 minutes), but we need someone to remove the brackets on the roof.

After being insulted by JT, I left a message for the owner, David ***, to call me.

I'm still waiting.
