I hired Mr. Handyman to install a new window AC unit. This basically required taking out the old unit and sliding the new one into the built in wall unit. Insulating and screwing it in. The first handyman did this work and at the end of two hours said that he would need to go to the store for supplies and actually he would not be able to complete the work because I needed a different electrical outlet for the unit. Obviously, I didn't want to pay him for an additional 2 hours time to get supplies. I requested that the company send an electrician on another date with the necessary supplies. The company did do this. The electrician arrived on time and I was told that he had everything he needed and that it would be a relatively easy job requiring little time and should be inexpensive. I had two leave. He completed the work. I was invoiced an additional $551 (after already paying $350 for the first visit). The invoice of $551 was for two hours of work and a $221 charge for materials. I spoke with the office and was given a $100 off since I was told that they had all the necessary materials. My wall was left in terrible condition and I was also told by the company that they would send someone out to repair my wall. I then realized when I was trying to vacuum and after plugging in my new vacuum and having it immediately short out, that the outlets in my unit were no longer working. I called the company and they said they would send the electrician back out. He arrived a week later. He was angry and immediately said that he was not responsible for the outlets not working. He did not check them or the electrical box and he did not take the time to discuss what had happened with me. Instead, he screamed at me and scared my two young children. My mother had to take them outside of our unit. I asked the electrician to leave immediately. As he left he threatened that he knew where I lived. I filed a police report. I spoke with the company and they said that they were not responsible.

I do not consider this 100% guarantee of their work product. And it has cost me $800+ to install an AC unit, but now I need to hire a reputable electrician and another personal to fix my wall.

So disappointed. Feels criminal.

Mr Handyman has not received ANY calls from Mr [redacted] to complain about the work. He called on 8/11 to say we missed a spot on the railing and we sent a technician the same day to touch up the spot.
Approximately a month later, I...

received a call from a Mr. [redacted] not Mr [redacted] stating my company should not be charging senior citizens our standard rates and should be charging them 1/4 our published rates since there is a subsidized handyman service in the town that charges this much. Since Mr. Handyman does not receive any of this subsidy, naturally, we refused to refund Mr. [redacted]' money on this basis. Mr [redacted] was given a senior citizen's discount at the time of service. Mr [redacted] stated that if I did not refund Mr [redacted]' money he would file a complaint with the Revdex.com, which he has apparently done now.
We were paid to clean Mr [redacted] windows with his supplies which were a "no wipe" spray on/spray off window solution. Cleaning conventionally would have taken significantly more time and cost and we were not paid to do this.
We were also paid on a time and materials basis to wire brush loose paint and rust on his railings and paint with rust inhibiting paint. Mr [redacted] provided all the paint so we do not warranty items we do not provide. He did not pay us to strip his railings to bare metal, prime and paint, which would be an extremely costly job and is NEVER done and a ludicrous request. Mr [redacted] paid us to wire brush loose paint and repaint his railings, so we will not strip his railings now.
Attached are the signed receipts from Mr. Baoos indicating his acceptance of our work agreement, and a second signature indicating that he acknowledged the satisfactory completion of the work. If Mr. [redacted] is not mentally fit to make his own decisions, we would be happy to discuss with Mr. [redacted] if he is the legal guardian of Mr. [redacted], or another individual if they are his legal guardian, some recompense, since our staff did not notice anything that would lead us to believe Mr. [redacted] was not capable of making his own decisions. Please forward the power of attorney of the individual who we should have discussed this work with instead of Mr [redacted] and we would be happy to discuss this with them now.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/09/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I would appreciate it if the company would come back and redo the railings to whatever extent the company deems necessary so that the old paint does not peel off as it is now in many, many places. When the agreement was signed, I, Mr. [redacted] did not know that in a few weeks the paint would start to peel off. The loose paint was not wire brushed off or scraped, resulting in the poor quality work. This job cost from $158.00 an hour to $98.00 is this the Quality of work that Mr. Handyman & company do. In their contract there is absolutely no warranty of any kind. This is not a good business practice. Usually is 60 to 90 days. Mr. Handyman guarantee is Zero.
Also, I would like the company to clean off all of the stray paint that they left on my stairs and house walls.I am a 91 years old man, I trusted your company to do a fair job for all the money I payed. I would like the proprietor himself to inspect, and see if he would accept the same work for his house.
Thanks

The day that the company said they were coming, they did not come. Two days later the company called [redacted] and said they would come on a different day. It was drizzling that day, so they called and re-scheduled for Monday, October 20. No work has been done yet. I do not know if I can trust them to come on Monday.
