Mr. Handy's Home Services Reviews (5)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. Pertaining to his claim of an unsafe work environment, he is presently doing the exact same jobs in the immediate neighborhood, and his statement of the backlog: he informed me personally at my front door, that I would be his next job. That was approximately one month ago.  He informed me I could cancel the contract now and hire some else, accept no one is available until next year. His statement in regards to the dilapidated roof was due to owner neglect and lack of preventative maintenance is incorrect as this was caused by wind damage from a storm. I don't know what preventative maintenance I could have performed regarding the roofing shingles and such.
Regards, [redacted]

Consumer called to state additional problems have been found: We now know that the bathroom backer board needs to be removed and installed correctly and the plumbing needs to be corrected for the sinks and the shower.  The sink drain is not sloped properly and the shower plumbing is loose and...

not secured properly.

n the 14th day of September Mr. Handy's Home Service signed a contact with [redacted] at 1779 Center road West Seneca. The contact was for the remodel on the main bathroom. We the contractor were responsible forall the labor and installing of any and all new bathroom fixtures the customer [redacted] is responsible for the purchase of any and all materials needed. Approximately two weeks after the signed contact we began work. Upon arrival we learned the the customer had not purchased any materials so we began to removing the exiting bathroom. Our contact was to remove a closet, old vanity old ceramic tile, plaster board and wire meshing. At that time the customer was suppose to get materials on the  premises that we so that we could begin bringing the bath to order. After 2 days had past [redacted] advised us to purchase the materials and she would reimbursed us for the purchase. So that we could move on we had no choice but to get all the materiel there this is at the point when the job had changed. Upon us bringing materials to the job site the advised us they we spent to much and would not pay us for what was purchased saying we are taking material to another job. After they check out all the prices on the internet they finally paid us for materials we purchased. We at that point felt the job would be one of difficultly to complete and get paid. Against our better judgment we continue the job and began doing the plumbing, electrical, and installing drywall and Dura-rock as needed. After day two of returning bathroom back to normal there was a issue with the way we where installing things we where left notes everyday of how much we where doing things wrong and that they looked it up on the internet and seen that we where doing things the wrong way. Okay so as owner of the company I have done 1000's of bathrooms over 52 years experience and the employees we had there have 30plus years of experience. We have gone out of our to please this customer as we do for every customer wehave. [redacted] would not be happy with anything we where to do, we completed the electrical, plumbing drywall and plastering ready for paint and tile work. We where given a deposit upon signing of the contract $2250.00 in which we have done all the removal, all plumbing, all electrical, drywall work in which we have cut way in the budgeting of money that we where given. Our license plumbing and electrical contractor have given approval for all work done. All of our work was done in a proper and professional manner and on time as much as could be without customers stoppage. We are not responsible for walking away from the job, we showed up on a Monday morning to find out that the door locks had been changed with no explanation or proper reason. Later that week [redacted] had contacted us saying that we did not do things proper and did not want us to return to there house to complete the job. She had stated all things we did where not done proper and did not want us back there. We asked what we could do to fix or talk about things that she was complaining about and was told no that her father would address them and that we should return the deposit. We have done more than half the job and where asked to leave for no apparent good reason, there is no proof that we have done anything improper and we have every right to holding[redacted] to the contract that she signed. [redacted] is in Breech of contract and has slandered our name with no viable proof of misconduct or unprofessional workmanship.Thank You. Mr. Handy's Home Service [redacted]

I reject the response Mr. Handy’s Home Service. If his response was truthful, why did it take him 2 months since the date of our initial Revdex.com complaint to respond? Would a licensed electrical contractor really give approval of cutting lines to other rooms and leaving the other rooms without power? We had also started a complaint with Home Advisor several weeks before we submitted our complaint with the Revdex.com. At the point that we started the complaint process with Home Advisor we were willing to work towards a more acceptable quality of work. After more than two weeks working with home advisor and still no improvement in work quality (with the exception that some of the duct tape was removed from the electrical work, but not all of it) was the point where we decided we need to protect our house from additional damage. Since the time of our original home advisor complaint we have found additional problems outside of our bathroom that were caused by the work of Mr. Handy’s Home Service crew. The unprofessional approach that this company has taken is very disheartening.
