It has been my experience in my 30 plus years as a contractor that you cannot please all the people all
the time. Enclosed is a copy of the letter I sent to my customer after he called me with a complaint £
weeks after I had completed the job and had been paid by him. I do not...

intend to have any further
dealings with this customer. I do not intend to give him further discounts. As you can see by the date of
my letter that I sent to my customer I responded immediately to him when he contacted me 2 weeks
after I completed my portion of the job.
My side of the story .. -
The customer opted to have me try to rebuild a window rather than have it replaced. It took an
estimated 12 to 15 passes on the table saw to properly cut all the angles of the 2 pieces that made up
the old window sill and make a new si ll out of treated lumber. I believe I did a very good job duplicating
the old window sill. /Iyou cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear".
Acting upon information given to me by the customer (customer wanted to do the demolition to save
money), I purchased and brought to the job site W' drywall to replace the old /I X" drywall" that I was
told had been removed. What was removed was 3/8/1 drywall. As any contractor knows X" does not
equal 3/8" . I believe the trim looked good when it was replaced, I reset the trim 3 times for the
customer, making slight adjustments until the customer told me he was happy.
Before I was even finished packing up my tools, the customer asked me for a bill and offered to pay me
right then. At the time the customer paid me, why did he pay me if he was not sastisfied? He offered to
pay me I did not demand or ask for payment. , gave the customer a $150.00 discount off the original
quote because the customer told me he would finish the drywall mudding and patch the gap under the
window. , wanted to try to let the customer save some money. The customer was there watching me
work the enti re time. The customer even painted the new brick molding before 1 put it back up.
It is my personal belief that when my customer, whom told me he would to finish the mudding of the
project rather than have me do it, later had regrets and was not able to properly mud what he said he
would do, and is trying to blame his frustration on me. When my customer told me he would finish the
mudding I accepted that he had the ability that he told me he had, obviously I should not have t ried to
be a nice guy and let the customer save money.

However, my complaints stand on the poor craftsmanship and wish to inform others to be careful when dealing with this entity, lest they be left in the same situation.
