Mr. Mover Reviews (9)

Dear [redacted] ,With regards to: (See attached copy of e-mail sent to MrM***, whose only response was "Thank you for your response Have a wonderful day." I think it outlines my concerns.), I don't have any record of having sent that message to you, nor does it sound like a response I would think up.I will do my best to respond to your numbered concerns Dear Nick M***, You have detailed much of our conversation of last week correctly but you have left out mentioning the multiple times your staff could have informed me of the additional charges: With the initial and revised quotes in April, prior to my move I grant you that your contract says “the price will not change unless you modify any of the factors listed above.”We do state this to protect us from any changes that require us to perform additional services at no charge Countless factors can change during a move, that greatly affect our costs to perform those services, and need to be able to charge for our costs if these changes occur This does apply to the address field in the letter, where we only stated your home address and our storage as locations where service would be performed When [redacted] replied to my e-mail of 4/20, saying I might need extension of the storage for a second month, and she replied “No worries, you can just let us know when and where to deliver your items whenever you’re ready.” We also had a phone conversation about this time during which she said my belongings would be put in a trailer that could be then put into your storage area.We do try to accommodate any changes customer's request with a positive attitude In your case, as we were holding your belongings for more than a couple of days, we unloaded them, and vaulted them in our warehouse, so they were properly stored for any length of time needed When on 5/when I talked with [redacted] to set up the move to West Bend for 5/ Why did she not tell me that she would prepare and send a second quote? Why was I not asked for 20% down payment if your company did consider this a second move and that is your usual procedure?Once you requested a move out date, [redacted] scheduled your 2nd move She believed she had been clear (but to you, obviously wasn't), that this second move was in fact, a second move, and you would expect to pay for another date of service, and address, not originally in your confirmation letter (or quote) We do not require a deposit for current customer's of ours, that already have their belongings stored with us This is done as a courtesy, as we have built a rapport together, and don't need any further commitment form the customer Why did [redacted] not tell me of the charge when sometime during the week of the move, I called to check on the time as I had a meeting with the landlady at the house at 8:on the 20th [redacted] told me during that conversation that my belongings had to be unpacked and would have to be repacked so the truck would arrive later that morning Why did Luke not tell me of the charges on the day before the move when he confirmed the time? I mentioned to him that I had not realized my belongings had to be packed and repacked, and he replied that they had had to use the trailer and could not keep my belongings in it.#4/#5-We don't have a policy of repeatedly telling the customer how much they will be charged when the move is complete After a customer is given their initial quote (98% of moves are single day projects), we don't practice repeating the quote to the customer again Given all these missed opportunities for your staff to inform me of the additional charges, and to collect the 20% advance payment, it is hard to accept that the only reason I was not given a quote was because I did not have the final address during our April contacts Why would anyone think this was just miscommunication and not an attempt to deceive a customer? There really weren't multiple missed opportunities, we just missed sending you a quote following the first call to set up move # After that, we wouldn't repeat the quote to you unless you asked, and didn't realize we had omitted giving you the quote previously If you had EVER asked if there were more charges for the 2nd move which you never requested a quote for, we would have provided this for you instantly We never "withheld" a price from you When we talked on the phone about this last week, I said I thought you needed to address this issue and inform future customers of the potential for additional charges My impression was that you sidestepped this point, but I still think it is a valid one.I have taken this under advisement, and we are aware of the issue you are concerned with We'll take the necessary steps to try to make sure this won't happen again You said in your e-mail that the total cost if I had provided addresses for both ends of the project would be the same as what I have paid Can you itemize how those costs are calculated? Does it make a difference if my belongings were in storage for only part of the month? That is correct I cannot, my computer software calculates the moving costs, just as it did for your initial quote Yes, the cost of storage varies with how long the items are stored with us 2-weeks are rounded up to month if it's the first month we store your goods After month, we charge per week to pro-rate for customers.I appreciate the fact that you are in business to not only meet the needs of people who need moving services, as well as to provide jobs for people, but to also make a living yourself I am still thinking about your offer of a refund of 20% Sincerely, [redacted] - [redacted] , I can tell you that customer satisfaction is at the top of my priority list! MrMover completes between 1200-moves EVERY year We never had a SINGLE complaint with the Revdex.com in all these years When I talked to the Revdex.com they were staggered and said how odd this is for a company that has this volume of customers in our field of service I would say that indicates we are extremely competent in dealing with customers in all types of situations, and must also exceed at communicating well I can also honestly state that not all of our customers are totally satisfied, but I imagine 99+% is a safe figure I always try to make my customers happy, and none of them have felt unhappy enough, nearly 10,since I have managed this company, to file a complaint here.I offered a 20% discount, off of our services for the 2nd move This way, I will not profit in any way from your 2nd move with us I feel this is a generous, practical offer, that both of us should be able to live with You were happy with our services, just not the charge to move you into your new home.I feel your request for 50% off of the price of the 2nd move is unjust, and I cannot give away our service for free, and we didn't originally quote/and weren't originally contracted to perform a double move with a temporary move into our storage, and then a 2nd move out of storage to your new home Whether you believed you would be charged to perform a complete 2nd move or not, you did request "additional services" as described in our confirmation letter, when you requested the 2nd move date and gave us your new address. We definitely didn't try to mislead you, and have about 5-10% of our moves being "double-move" type relocations such as yours It's not ideal, we actually wish folks were having an easier time getting their new homes in short order, to be able to move right in, and eliminate the need for a double move situation.Sincerely,Nick M [redacted] MrMover Inc / [redacted] Style Definitions */

MrMover was awesomeThey helped us move quickly and efficiently You don't always get what you pay for as they were the best priced and were on time and wrapped everything safe Only moving company we will ever use

The first time I hired mrMover The Experience was satisfactoryThe two men who were sent to me were nice and did their job and they were actually good workers and the charge was reasonableNo problems so the management was ok to deal with and I called again expecting the sameThe second time I hired them it was a complete nightmareTwo men were sent to me and one was extremely agitated and seemed tired and dragging and actually both were taking their sweet time and they were taking continual smoking brakes and basically did not want to do the jobI was told by one of them that the other guy did not want to do the job because he had a birthday party the night before and was exhausted as if that was my problemNot only did he tear apart my bathroom floor removing the stackable Washer and dryer and when I confronted him about it he gave me attitude as if that was expectedHe was tossing my boxes and when I mentioned please be gentle with my boxes he gave me attitude, I never received a thanks when I gave him water and then he just threw the water bottle on my lawn which I cant standlittering! I never in my life heard any movers complain more about what they had to moveTheyd say ' I cant move this or I cant move that..itll break' At the end of hours I was told I needed to pay which didn't make any sense to me since they told me a hundred deposit a hundred per hourSo I got on the phone with the manager? and he tried to get and said well they were there at 8:instead of 9am and I thought 'are you charging me $for minutes?! ' We agreed on and when I handed the mean one he didnt even give me changeI wanted to tip the one older gentlemen because although he was moving slowly he was kind and didnt give me attitude, I did not want to tip the grumpy disrespectful one! After hanging up with manager? I called back a few times to try to contact the manager and he never returned my phone callsIt's funny how they are quick to accept the job so they take the money screw up your furniture or make other damages and then blow you offThis company has no idea how to run a successful businessThey think they can accept a job and treat people and their property like ***, pay their workers minimum wage (from what I was told)and that he'll still continue to make moneyWhen you pay low wages you will clearly get workers who do not give a *** and will perform poorlyIts rare when people do what they should do which, regardless of pay, should give 100% effort in what they do! He does not understand that in order for a business to be successful you have to make customers happy so that way they will recommend them to other people in the future! And they will have a good nameThey should also resolve problems quickly! Its all just common sense which the owner apparently does not haveI wish I wouldve looked up the reviews before I hired themI wouldve never hired themI actually wondered if any of them would do something to my property because the one seemed that dirty typeLike he just doesnt care about anything or anyoneIve got my camera set and ready incaseIf youre smart DO NOT HIRE MR MOVER!

They charge by the hour and the movers are slow and inefficient

My experience with Mr. Mover was horrendous. When I hired them to move my father-in-laws apartment into storage, I witnessed them break a valuable antique table. They told me to file a report and appraisal with the company since they were insured. I filed the claim as instructed and then didn't hear back from them. After repeated attempts to reach them, I finally talked to the manager. He told me the moving team said the table was already broken and they wouldn't process any claim. It was dishonest and bad business! Don't trust Mr. Mover with your move!!

Hard working, and didn't give up when the fridge wouldn't fit through the door!!!

Mr. Mover was awesome... They helped us move quickly and efficiently. You don't always get what you pay for as they were the best priced and were on time and wrapped everything safe. Only moving company we will ever use.

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM â?? RUDE â?? LIARS â?? RIPOF! DO NOT HIRE THEM TO MOVE A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G!

Please understand, I own my own business so I know whatâ??s itâ??s like to be honest and do your best to do right by your clients, these people DO NOT care about you and will not take good are of ANY of your stuff â?? especially your most expensive items like a 70 inch TV.

This is going to be a pretty long review but it will be worth it if you want to know what youâ??d be getting yourself into by giving them your hard earned Monday.

My husband calls and gets a quote from Mr. Mover to move our 4 bed 3 bath house + 2 car garage. He proceeds to explain all the large items in each room so that they would know what they are dealing with ahead of time.

RICK (â? remember that name, you will see it in other reviews on different websites as well, including the Revdex.com) told him that it would only take his crew 4 hours and gave him a verbal quote of a little over $800 since it would be 4 guys and two trucks. Seemed reasonable to us when it takes us about 8 hours to move ourselves and itâ??s just the two of us.

When the guys show up, they do a walk through, we pay our first hour + trip charge of $320 and they get to work getting the truck loaded at 8:45AM.

By noon my husband realizes that by their pace itâ??s going to take them closer to 8 hours so we are going to be paying around $1,600 for this move.

Right there, our move is TWICE as much as what we were quoted and I can see the bait and switch happening right before my eyes. Thereâ??s no way that you would under bid a move by THAT much HONESTLY!

I told my husband that I can tell they are a dishonest company at this point because they low-balled the quote because once they have our stuff, they hold all the power to screw us out of money or they will take our stuff and hold it hostage.

We decided at this point that we would talk to the main guy in charge of our move, Sam and ask how long it was going to take to load up the rest of the houseâ?¦Mind you at this point they had only loaded the small stuff, however a little over half the house was loaded up, all the big stuff was left (which is pretty quick to move â?? Iâ??ve moved it all myself plenty of times).

I asked my husband to find out how much time it would take them to move everything they had left + our storage unit, as well as explain what we were quoted for this move.

Sam told him, with whatâ??s left and the storage unit, about 4 more hours + told my husband that written on the paperwork he had, was a $3,000 quote. â??YEAH? Where was that in writing to us?â? We wouldâ??ve NEVER hired them for $3K, mark my words on that.

We agreed at this point that we were too far into what they had already loaded so we continued on with using them, assuming that it would only be 4 more hours and we would only have to pay another $1,280 to add to the $320 we had already paidâ?¦

Please note that at this time my husband had already called and talked to both RICK and TOBIAS (at the main phone number on the website) who told him there was nothing they could do about the fact that he was told a little over $800 for the quote and that we would just have to pay whatever it ended up being. They werenâ??t even willing to do the move with just one truck to help cut down the cost since we were lied to.

So once truck #1 was loaded they left and headed to the new houseâ?¦ Of course they â??Got Lostâ? which we had to request time off our bill for, but they didnâ??t give it to us.

By time I showed up to the new house truck #1 was there, unloading and it was only ¼ of the way done. By this time it is 4:45pm and truck #2 still hasnâ??t shown up and itâ??s chock full of stuff as well.

Sam tells me that he just got of the phone with his boss and they are stopping the clock at 5:45PM whether they are done or not and thatâ??s all Iâ??ll have to pay, even if they arenâ??t done unloading because it has taken them so long.

He would not continue unloading until I paid, he just basically stood there with his hand out. At this time he was collecting $1,485.00 to add to the $320 that we had already paid.

I almost paid with my card that had more money on it, but at last minute I decided to switch to my account that if overcharged it would decline. I am very glad I didâ?¦

I transferred the money and paid the â??what I thought wasâ? $1,485â?¦

When he brought the paperwork to me to sign, there was no total on it and I said to him, â??There is no total on this and I need to know what it is I am signing forâ?

He said, â??There will be a total on it once I get authorizationâ? â?¦ I shouldâ??ve stopped right there and waited to sign it. But I didnâ??t want them to act all crazy and threaten to hold my stuff hostage.

Meanwhile, truck #2 FINALLY shows up, supposedly they were stuck in Tampa, trafficâ?¦Yet they couldâ??ve gone over the skyway and bypassed ALL the rush hour traffic on a Friday at 530PM. So you tell me why they took the long wayâ?¦
Anyways, after my credit card authorization, they went back to work unloading truck #1.

When truck #2 showed up, truck #1 was STILL ¼ of the way full and Samâ??s phone rings.

He comes up to me and says â??Your card was declined for $306â? and I said, â??What? I didnâ??t authorize $306, I authorized $1,485, so why are you running it for $306?â?

He then proceeds to tell me that in order for them to finish unloading I have to pay for another hour and a half until 7:15PM since they didnâ??t finish in timeâ?¦.

This is where I get [redacted] and realize that this company is FULLY scamming innocent people out of their money because they can since they have all of their stuff.

When I told them verbatim what they said about the me paying the $1,485 and them stopping the time and not charging me anymore, he didnâ??t care, it was at that moment that I started to realize that Sam â??Might Not beâ? oblivious to the lying and cheating his company was doingâ?.

I said â??No, I am not paying itâ? and Sam said â??Okay then we are locking the doors, taking your stuff to our storage facility and itâ??s going to cost you a whole lot more money to get it outâ?

So I HAD to pay or they were going to hold our stuff hostage until we didâ?¦

Meanwhile, the workers were playing all of this up like they had no idea that their company was running a scamâ?¦ There was Sam, Nolan, Mike & Travis who did this moveâ?¦

And we believed them at the time that they really didnâ??t realize their company was fraudulent charging people and leading them along.

I soon found out later that they were in on it, based off their actions.

At this point my mom was [redacted] because she had heard this whole thing and was standing there when they told me that the last charge was it.

She had them drop all our stuff (remember it was one FULL semi truck and ¼ of another) all in the driveway.

I had to help, my kids had to help (9 and 6 years old), we all had to help unload our stuff and we had paid over $2,000 into an $800 quoted move.

During this whole time, I was infuriated by the way I had been manipulated into paying them 2 ½ times what I was quotedAnd all the workers (Nolan, Travis, Sam & Mike) were apologizing profusely about how we were mislead and being treated because Mike was also standing there and heard that $1,485 was ALL I was going to be charged for the rest of this move.

They all â??supposedlyâ? felt so bad that Sam, Nolan and Mike stated numerous times that they were going to come back and help us because â??This just wasnâ??t rightâ? and â??they cannot believe their boss did thatâ? and â??They hate working for such a dishonest companyâ?â?¦

Well, guess what?

THEY NEVER CAME BACK TO HELP!

So here I wasMy MomMy Kids and My HusbandMoving 1 full semi truck and ¼ of another semi truck worth of stuff from the driveway to the garage all by ourselves after being scammed out of $2,050.PLUS I gave them $250 in tips!

Thatâ??s not all, HEREâ??S THE REAL KICKERâ?¦

When I checked my bank statement because I needed to get everyone food after starving all day and moving all this stuffâ?¦They had charged me $1,530, not $1,485 when they processed that first payment on my card.

I KNOW for a fact, that had I given them my card with more money on it, they wouldâ??ve kept charging us.

Luckily my mom had the sense to have them drop everything in the driveway so that would stop the clock and they wouldnâ??t keep screwing me out of money. I wish we wouldâ??ve though of that earlier, when truck #1 first got there. LESSON LEARNED!

Thatâ??s not all though, THEREâ?S MORE!

Because truck #2 did NOT pack well at all and because EVERY guy except Sam (based on what he said, which we both know none of their words is worth anything) was new, hereâ??s the list of what was brokenâ?¦

My 70 inch TV
TV Stand
Queen Bed
Twin Bed
Ripped my Sheet
Scratched my big bookcase

ANNNNNNNNNNNND

In order to get ALL the stuff that was still left at my house (yes we had to go back and get more because the amateurs packed truck #2 wrong), we had to rent a Uhaul trailer and spend another 5 hours of our time loading up stuff that was still left.

So we paid $2,050 to move 3/4 of our own house ourselves + lost another $2,200 in damaged goods due to their inexperience and carelessness.

Moral of the storyâ?¦NEVER HIRE MR. MOVER! After this, [redacted] TO THE NO will I EVER hire movers again.

DO NOT GIVE AWAY YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY, PAY FRIENDS TO HELP YOU!

Beware of this company! If you have any thought of using these scam artists you need to read this whole blog first.
I made arrangements for a move from a 2 story home to another 2 story home about 10 days in advance. On my first contact I notified the company that I had some very heavy furniture. In the interim I confirmed the move and again made it very plain that I had heavy furniture. On the day of the move ( which they were late for) I made it very plain that I had heavy furniture. My wife happened to be in the same room and heard the conversation. Each and every time I was told it was no problem and on moving day they told me they were sending 2 people who could handle it. When they showed, they moved exactly 2 pieces of furniture (we live in a 3 bedroom house) and I noticed the movers were on the phone. I got a call from the dispatcher/owner (I don't really know) who told me the guys were complaining that the furniture was too heavy!! And now they wanted to charge me an additional $80 to get a 3rd person to the job and an additional $50 per hour. During this time the movers unloaded the 2 pieces off the truck and left. I got a call from Tobias who told me that I was being too abusive and the move was cancelled. SO HERE'S THE PART TO WATCH OUT FOR. Before they lift the first finger they make you sign an agreement that lets them hit your credit card for $185. You don't have a choice which under normal circumstances would be OK except they hit my AMEX, worked for maybe 30 minutes and left!!! And they had the gall to hit the card again after the move was cancelled for another $51 which I assume was for time on the job. Thank goodness for AMEX, they saved my bacon and had all these charges reversed and cancelled.
NEVER, EVER CONSIDER USING THIS COMPANY!! I wish I had read reviews prior to my move and could have avoided a huge mess. My wife and I had been moving boxes and other things for 2 weeks prior and all we wanted was for them to move our heavy (duh??) furniture. We called another company, 2 College Brothers, who showed up in uniforms and got the job done the same day and made an already stressful day much better. FYI...2 College Brothers never asked for a nickel up front and were more than fair about our final charges, no extras when they had every chance to take advantage of us.
DON'T USE MR MOVER!!
