Mr Peabodys Burger and Ale Reviews (3)

June 17,
Dear Revdex.com;
First and foremost, I am very sorry she still feels I didn’t take her complaints to heart and MOST IMPORTANT I am very, very glad she and her baby are in good health
I was very surprised and disappointed to receive this
complaint from you through Ms***. Since my last conversation with Ms***, I hadn’t heard anything from her and thought this was resolved. I’m not sure what else I or the restaurant could have done
She did indeed came into the restaurant and what looked by the way she was dressed, directly from the hospital as she still had electrodes attached to her. She was angry and a bit hysterical and at first when she approached me early in the morning while the restaurant was closed and I was by myself. In the beginning I was indeed taken aback and quiet while she was expressing herself, as I didn’t know who she was or why this person would storm in, in the matter she did
When she finally calmed enough and I could ask her some questions, she was very defensive and kept saying “she knew what made her sick, as she had not eaten in hours prior to eating at our establishment, gulfed down her food because she was starving and then when she got home hours later she couldn’t stop throwing up the chicken”. She kept insisting she had food poisoning from what she ate and gave me some medical papers, but the only thing on the medical papers besides her personal information was that she had been treated for dehydration from nauseaI did ask her to qualify her comment “she hadn’t eaten in hours prior to the chicken sandwich” as that alarmed me as she was obviously pregnant
In her letter to you, she states that she watched our cook, cook the chicken for minutes and then ate it, but when she spoke to me her exact words were “I’ve eaten here a hundred times and I watched him cook the chicken as usual and even saw him check it, to see if it was done. I was so hungry, I scarfed it down in minutes.” She repeated this so many times to me throughout our conversation that I felt I needed more information from her especially since there was no diagnosis on the medical papers
The more questions I asked her, the more agitated she became. I tried to calm her and was indeed very concerned and understood how scary it was, thinking you might lose your baby. I also told her about an episode of my mother and myself who were diagnosed a few years ago with Shigella from a Rubio’s and had my own hospital stay, so I personally know how dangerous food poisoning can beWhich is why I take great strides in our food prep and continued to try to find out from her, if the doctor had diagnosed what the food illness was- She kept asserting that just her being at the hospital and throwing up “the chicken was all she could taste” was proof enough and all she or I needed. I tried to convey to Ms*** that getting more information was needed so I can alert and speak to my employees as well as my vendor.
Knowing her and her baby were in good health, my concerns were- did she indeed get sick from the chicken, the lettuce, tomato-even though she thought it was the chicken, was it salmonella, listeria, cross-contamination or what? Or was it just a very nauseous, very pregnant women who hadn’t eaten in hours and scarfed her food down and it wasn’t staying down…? I needed to be as sure as I could so if it was food poisoning we could indeed do something about it
We spent at least an hour talking, and the last minutes she seemed to calm. I tried my best to assure her that our food preparation is done with great care and I would absolutely, immediately speak my staff and go over how our food is prepared as well as speak to my food vendors on the items she ateI also told her to let me know if I could help in any way or if anything changed with her condition
She spoke again on how scared she was and was just glad it was over and everything was okay. I asked her again to please call the doctor and see if they had a confirmation of the type of food poisoningWhen she left, she thanked me for listening and said she would indeed call the doctor because she wanted to know herself
Immediately after she left I called my vendcouldn’t do anything but make a note of the incident since I didn’t have a diagnosis and there had been no other reports of any sickness I spoke to management and all the staff, two of whom remembered her and indeed how fast she ate and her comments that she was starvingTo be sure though, we threw away cases of fresh, raw chicken just to be on the safe side
I wish Ms*** only good health and hope she can understand why I was trying to get more information from her. I sincerely apologize that she thought I was not being heartfelt when we were talking
Sincerely,
*** ***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowI am very disappointed in Manager ***'s response She is lying about our multiple things when I visitedI was never rude or agitated or not calmShe was very defensive when I came to tell her what happened, and in her response back to me in writing she has displayed that same toneWhy would I go back to her and give any documents??? She was not welcoming or inviting until I said I would contact Revdex.com (she could have taken that comment as agitated in response to her careless behavior towards me) After I left; she followed me to my car, telling me about her and her mother and different types of food poisoningI have attached the same FOOD POISONING paper work I showed her when I was released from Sharps Grossmont hospital Also She stated I showed her something different, lieI have never ate there hundreds of times, maybe a few and all items I purchased were differentLike I stated before, I've never had an issueThen and now I believe, the chef just didn't cook the chicken all the way...*** has insisted on blaming it on my pregnancy, her vendors, me not eating all dayetcI'm done with this issue and will never eat at MrPeabody's again Not only because of the food poisoning issue...also because of ***'s non sympathetic attitude and liesFYI ***, Google the thousands of types of food poisoning, before you assume there is only a few out there and make another customer feel the way you made me feel.

Review: On 06/03/2014 I ordered a chicken sandwich with a side of fries from Mr. Peabodys around 4pm. I had nothing but a stickers candy bar all day to eat so I was starving. I watched the chef grill a raw chicken breast for about 5 minutes then serve it to me. The food looked done so I ate it. With in two hours of me eating the Chicken sandwich I got this sharp painfully pain in the left side of my stomach. I am 22weeks pregnant, so at first I thought it was a Braxton hick contraction. Contractions only last a few seconds to a minute long at a time and this horrible pain went from 1hour to 3hours long, non stop constant pain. I felt like I had to have a BM but could not perform. I ended up throwing up 3 times in my home toilet. All chicken sandwich. The sharp pain continued and started to really scare me for my unborn child's sake. My sister called 911 and a emergency team rushed me to grossmont women's center. I through up 3 more times at hospital. They gave me 3 bags of iv fluid for severe hydration, 8mgs of nausea medication into Iv for food poisoning and gastritis. I have eaten at Mr Peabody plenty of times before and have never had a problem with their food. My issue came, when the next day at 10am after being discharged from hospital, diagnosis food poison. I went back to Mr Peabody and spoke with Manager [redacted]. I told her what happen to me. She was very rude and defensive!! Telling me that tge chicken sandwich couldn't have been all I ate all day ( basically calling me a liar) on to say there is different types of food poisoning, from salmonella to shigella. I showed her my medical paper work with diagnosis on there...and she seem to want to put the blame on her vendors...instead of simply apologizing. I thought I was dying and my unborn child was in danger. Mr. Peabodys management had no regard or no consideration for the horrible pain and devastation I went through after eating at their establishment. All I wanted was a heart felt apology.

Dear Revdex.com;

First and foremost, I am very sorry she still feels I didn’t take her complaints to heart and MOST IMPORTANT I am very, very glad she and her baby are in good health.

I was very surprised and disappointed to receive this complaint from you through Ms. [redacted]. Since my last conversation with Ms. [redacted], I hadn’t heard anything from her and thought this was resolved. I’m not sure what else I or the restaurant could have done.

She did indeed came into the restaurant and what looked by the way she was dressed, directly from the hospital as she still had electrodes attached to her. She was angry and a bit hysterical and at first when she approached me early in the morning while the restaurant was closed and I was by myself. In the beginning I was indeed taken aback and quiet while she was expressing herself, as I didn’t know who she was or why this person would storm in, in the matter she did.

When she finally calmed enough and I could ask her some questions, she was very defensive and kept saying “she knew what made her sick, as she had not eaten in 24 hours prior to eating at our establishment, gulfed down her food because she was starving and then when she got home 2 hours later she couldn’t stop throwing up the chicken”. She kept insisting she had food poisoning from what she ate and gave me some medical papers, but the only thing on the medical papers besides her personal information was that she had been treated for dehydration from nausea.
