this company provided me unnecessary repair and tried to trick me into accepting a faulty new sewer pipe that they installed without getting inspection from the City of Seattle.

Mr Rooter Plumbing Response • Feb 28, 2020

We have been in contact with the customer and are working together towards a resolution.

Mister Rooter was contracted 6/24/19 to remove and install new disposal I paid for, in the morning, tech removed the old disposal, and took new disposal out to his truck to remove something off old one, I heard hammering outside, tech came back in and said he was able to remove the old thing ? from bottom of old disposal saving me money ? instead of tech having to go to wharehouse to get one to go over the new one, in the estimate on 6/21/19 remove and install new disposal in that estimate tech explained he was going to replace old pipe and hoses with all new never did, he told me you are in luck I was able to install new disposal with existing pipe. my wife on 9/29/19 was going down under the kitchen sink and noticed water on the floor and discovered that pipe was leaking from the disposal connected to the kitchen sink pipes. and that the workmanship , was of poor quality, new disposal was dropped by tech installing new one ? and underneath wife seen dents around new disposal, asked why I said the tech took new one outside to install something from bottom of old disposal to put on new, at the bottom there was black electrical tape, on bottom of electrical fitting looks like to hold it in place. not only leaks, but mold developing, in back of sink, and a smell from tubing indicates that the tubing was not installed allowing to drain properly from disposal, over a 3 month period, damage under sink may be more from poor install, health myself and my wife have had flu like systems, affecting breathing and lungs, making us sick. .

I had an appt 3/22/19 for mr rooter to come and service my main line plumbing, as there was a clog. The technician verbalized a quote to clear the line, totaling $550. He accessed the main line through our powder toilet, and used a snake to attempt to clear the clog. After several attempts, another technician came with equipment to locate the portion of the line that was causing the blockage. He then elected to crawl into the crawl space to take pictures of the plumbing lines. He reinstalled the toilet, and replaced the $3 wax ring around the toilet. They both scratched their heads and were befuddled at why they couldn’t fix or solve the issue. He then recommended I schedule a secondary appointment where they would come out again, and perform a hydro scrub. This estimate was $1,175! They could not even guarantee that it would be successful. At this point I became extremely distrusting that they were gauging me and taking advantage of my lack of knowledge in this area, so I said I needed a second opinion.

The next day my husband and a family friend went to ***, rented a snake, and performed the drain clean by themselves. After approximately two hours, they were able to miraculously unclog the issue, costing a whopping $65!!

I have read enough reviews from other customers claiming the same experience as me. My contention with this company is that I was quoted $550 to perform the service, and not only did they unsuccessfully complete the work, they additionally charged an environmental fee for 20$, and a diagnostic fee of $146 that they did not disclose or disclaim to me before charging me an astronomical amount for absolutely nothing.

I contest they refund me the portion of environmental an the diagnostic fee, as there was never a mention of these surmounting costs. This company has a terrible reputation, and unfortunately I have learned a painful lesson. I have never filed a negative review, but will do so due to this companies horrible ethics

Thank you,

Robert

One of the most unprofessional companies I have come in contact with. Mr Rooter was contracted for my remodel to install plumbing in my kitchen. The plumber DID come out and install the faucet - but neglected to hook up the plumbing, so when I went to use the water, it flooded my kitchen sink area. When I made a follow up appointment for them to correct the mistake they made - they didn't show up for the appointment nor did they reach out to me. When I called in again, I was disconnected on while trying to get yet another appointment... Businesses like yours have a liability to guarantee your work and certainly have a responsibility to the customer, especially when we take time off of work to be at home for service.

I contacted Mr Rooter to inquire about clearing out a clogged drain at a rental house owned by my mother. I made it very clear that I would be the primary point of contact and the decision maker regarding any work to be done. The bid proposal they provided to do the work was higher than expected so I declined having them proceed. The next day someone from Mr Rooter called my elderly mother (the owner of the home) directly and asked for an authorization to proceed. I had told her that I would be arranging for a plumber so she assumed that I had authorized the work already, and agreed to have Mr Rooter do the work. This was in direct conflict with what I had asked when I spoke to Mr Rooter. The plumber that Mr Rooter sent to work on the clogged drain damaged the P-trap under the sink. This was also not authorized because when I spoke to Mr Rooter initially I requested that any drain snakes be accessed through the drum trap on the floor so as not to disturb the older fragile pipe fittings. So at this point the p-trap is leaking because of the work that Mr Rooter attempted to perform, which was not authorized by myself, when I had specifically asked that all authorizations needed to run through me. Mr Rooter has admitted that they sent a technician in error but has not apologized for calling my mother directly. They are also not volounteering to fix the p trap that was damaged. They have asked for $200 plus taxes and any applicable fees to do the work. I feel that the burden of putting the house back to its original condition should sit squarely on their shoulders, free of charge to me. I already paid another outfit to clear the drain which was my only intent in contacting Mr Rooter in the first place.
