Last December, I contacted MrHandyman based on HomeAdvisor’s list of appliance repair recommendationsWhen they called me, I was given 3-minute spiel about how professional they were, their minimum 10-year experience and the background checks they perform on their professionals I was enthusiastic about them because my clothes dryer had be going downhill for months to a point it screeched so loud , we could not stand being in the house when it was onThat same day, Terri (?) showed up promptly for the appointmentOnce here, he pushed 2-buttons on the dryer and, in less than minute, said that I should call someone else, like Sears, because they did know about appliancesWhen I confusingly asked him then why he was here, he said that he " was doing me a favor " that he was leavingHe mentioned that we was going to tell his company that I wasn't home and that if they called me I should lie about itWell they did call me, they said someone was outside my house ringing the doorbell and that nobody was answering, I said that was not true, and in minutesTerri appeared again He "warned" me that he was going to have to take the dryer apart to fix it, which I replied that he was the expert and not I, and that he should do what he needed toAn hour later (they charge by the hour plus an visit fee) he said it was readyWhen I turned the dryer on, the screech was exactly the same, he then was actually was trying to convince me that he didn't hear anythingSince there were other workers in the house doing other projects, he couldn't keep on trying to wiggle his way outHe then called his boss, took it apart again and, after another hour I went in and asked when he thought he would be done and most importantly if he had found what the problem was; he had no answerI had to leave the house but left someone home to call me before he left to make sure the dryer was fixedAfter hours of no progress, I called Eric at the office and said that I was getting very concerned that Terri was still working on the dryer and that it was going to be very expensive, he called me back after the speaking with Terri and told me that actually, the screech was and there was nothing to do (the nerve of these people is incredible)When I very casually asked then why was that not mentioned hours earlier and before taking the machine apart twiceI got no good answer We went back and forth with various calls , the person I left at home said the noise was the same, Eric called and said Terri would leave and that they were going to charge me only the visit fee and that the dryer was almost noise freeOut of desperation, because the person I left at home had to leave, I agreed, which was an error When I got home the noise was exactly the sameThe next day I called them and asked to speak with the manager, who I think is actually the owner; James ( [redacted] ?)It took various calls for him to call me backWhen he did, I quickly learned why that business operates the way it does; James is an intimidating and verbally abusive person with no sense of customer experience who was so rude I could not keep a conversation with himI was charged $140.00, the dryer was not fixed and I was never told what the problem was
