Review: Bought a new boat and did not get what I paid for!
Purchased a new excel 1651 F4 duck boat from mudbuddy. The boat was built and shipped to the dealer. After getting the boat I realized it was not what I paid for. The "gun box" located in the boat does not hold a shotgun used for duck hunting as they claim. The box also doubles as a rod box, which they claim will hold a 7 ft rod but does not. Also, the anchor light is mounted incorrectly and is unable to be used with the seat provided
When I spoke with customer service.I was told to modify my brand new $20k boat by cutting into the front deck. They said my other option was to bring it to arkansa and let them work on it for a few days (this means hotel room, missing work, and gas for an approx 10 hr trip and back). After talking about them doing warranty work they said the gun/rod box would no longer be water tight which is what I paid for. Desired Settlement: A 1651F4 with a usable anchor light, and a rod/gun box like I paid for!
Review: Multiple Issues with Motor and Turnaround Time on response & repairs.
Purchased a Mud buddy Motor from Fast Duck Motors in April 2013. Received the Motor & Boat (Excel) around June 2013. Overall, I have been very unsatisfied with the process ever since I place the down payment for the Boat & Motor. I thought that it would be worth the 10 week wait time. However, the overall performance of the boat/motor hasn't met the expectation originally that we were sold on. Let alone the endless amount of issues.
Since Day 1 the motor has had issues. I have had to take the motor in for repair around 7-8 times in less than 1 year. Sometimes leaving it for 2-4 weeks. The dealer is a 3 hour round trip from my location. This has cost me over $600.00 in fuel alone. The down time on the boat/motor has been around 3 months within the first year.
Just to list of few of the issues:
Cheap Transom saver broke in the first month
Payed a welder to make one that really worked
Carburetors needs constant adjustment
Tach doesn't work
Lower End has broke 2 times
Carburetors has fallen of the motor twice
Exhaust blew a piece off and had to get new exhaust
Kill Switch has broken off
Exhaust still has issues that have been known for 4+ months and been in several times and still not fixed.
Trim has stopped working on occasion
Several parts have come loose on the motor and require me to tighten from time to time.Desired Settlement: Acknowledge the motor has flaws and that it has been an unfair experience with Mudbuddy and buy it back. Because how can you sell a flawed motor that is only 1 year old?
