We contracted with Mukwonago Remodeling for a second story addition that involved demo of our existing full bath, and adding 75 sq ft for a master bath and adjacent second full bath. A doorway in our kitchen was also widened, and the flooring in the kitchen was redone as part of this job.
We talked to ~8 NARI-certified contractors over the few years prior to selecting Mukwonago Remodeling. We selected Mukwonago Remodeling because they claim not to use subcontractors, and provided an itemized quote. The job started on July 6, 2015 and was to take 6-8 weeks. A temporary shower was established in the basement to during the remodel. In short, Mukwonago Remodeling completed the final inspection on January 19, 2016 - more than 6 months since the start of the job. Approximately 1 month of this time was due to scheduling of aspects under our control, such as custom doors and refinishing of floors. There were occasional bright-spots and modest add-in such as sweating a copper fitting in the guest bath being completed by us concurrently. However, poor communication, and Mukwonago Remodeling’s consistent desire to get aspects of the job done fast- rather than correct or with a high level of quality – led to the extended duration of the job. Aspects of the job including the master bath tile, several items on the punch list, and the final inspection were attempted multiple times before they achieved industry standard. Moreover, new plumbing added as part of the job froze in January, forcing additional repairs of drywall and added inconvenience to our family.
If history is a guide, Mukwonago Remodeling will blame anyone and everyone for these delays in their rebuttal of the accounts here. The truth is that portions of our job that were redone needed to be redone according to the 3rd party contractors brought in by Mukwonago Remodeling to reconcile the outstanding issues. I hope that this experience has prompted Mukwonago Remodeling to reflect on the issues with our job, and make changes to avoid them in the future. For example, there is no reason why a final inspection involving a tempered window pane should require 5 tries to get correct if the team is paying attention to detail. In contrast to earlier work, repair of the frozen pipes was done promptly and of high quality, so perhaps some internal changes were made. Nonetheless, Mukwonago Remodeling caused our family a lot of unnecessary stress. We’d easily pay 25-50% more for a more professional experience. I wouldn’t want anyone to go through the same terrible 6 month experience we had with Mukwonago Remodeling. Therefore I cannot recommend Mukwonago Remodeling even thought they did eventually get the job done.

Review: They remodeled a master shower. The tile had to be ripped out twice, more material ordered at my cost due to their error, drywall was ripped out to address multiple leaks in the shower. The drywall has not been completed.

A contractor was supposed to be out at the home yesterday and today to complete the drywall from 2 years ago!!

No call and no show from contractor.

The contractor voicemail box is full, so I can't even reach them.

I paid to have my dogs boarded so they would not be in the way of the workers- who didn't show up- so I am out more money!Desired Settlement: I want the repair done!

I want a refund for the boarding of my animals when no one showed up to complete work.

I want a refund for the inconvenience this has caused me for years.

I want EVERYONE to know that this company is horrible.

I want them to put out of business, that would be my main goal. I will make sure to complain on every single media possible so that others are aware of he shoddy work, unprofessional and incompetent staff!!
