It would have been more appropriate for our customer (Mr. [redacted]), tocomplain to us in person. When the truck was having trouble stating on a cold day, I informed our customerthat the truck might have an number of issues. It could be a bad injector orinjection pump issue,...

which would cost more money to continue diagnoses. Thecustomer did not seem to want to spend any more money. As an example, thecustomer was informed during the heater core replacement that his dash wascracked before disassembly, and made the choice not to repair it. The truck is ahigh mileage vehicle. When given the option to repair the dash properly thecustomer chose not to. We assembled the interior as best we could with thebroken parts, and assumed the customer did not have the funds to make otherneeded repairs. The vehicle did start, but had a rough idle for a few secondsbefore smoothing out and idling normal. The vehicle has aftermarket parts installed for performance, so the truck may notoperate as the manufacturer intended.I have enclosed a copy of invoice to customer. To disassemble a dash andreassemble the dash takes some time. We do not feel we owe customer arefund. After talking with other garages in the area we will agree to $470.00refund for customer satisfaction.Thank you,

I want to point out that the complaint about the interior not being installed correctly was in no relation to the dash.  I was aware that the dash was crumbling, and chose not to buy a new dash, instead a replacement cover (which requires dodge's old crumbling dash underneath).  The interior comment was in reference to the pillar gauges, the plastic under the dash on the driver's side, the cup holder/shifter plastic, all of which were installed in a very lazy, improper manner.  Also, after taking the time to look for the hard-start problem myself, I diagnosed the problem in less than five minutes.  It was, as I suspected, and as I brought to [redacted]'s attention when I brought the truck to him, the intake manifold heater.  One of the heater feed terminals was broken, leaving the intake manifold heater inoperable.  The lack of the ability of the technician to diagnose this baffles me.  Especially considering the fact that I told them I thought that could be the problem.  It is unfortunate that the low quality of work of the technician that worked on my truck reflects badly on the business as a whole.  I have always been a fan of [redacted] Diesel and have always recommended them in the past.  I appreciate the response by [redacted], and I feel satisfied that the refund amount is adequate.  Thank you.
Respectfully,

Review: I took my truck to [redacted] Diesel Service to have them troubleshoot and repair my truck's "hard-start" problem, and also replace a heater core. The reason I chose to take my truck to this specific repair shop is because they are considered to be the most knowledgeable Cummins Diesel Engine repair service in the area. I contacted [redacted] and notified him of the hard-start problem that was occurring, and his response was "thats not right, it should start right up with no problem". He assured me that they would resolve the problem and would be able to fix my hard-start problem.A week after I dropped my truck off I was notified that the repair was completed and that it was ready for pick up. When I went to pick up my truck I was told that it was started that morning and it started right up with no problems. I decided to start my truck up to give it time to warm up considering that it is a diesel engine and it was quite cold out that day (26 degrees F.). Unfortunately, when I attempted to start my truck it was immediately noticeable that the hard-start problem had not improved at all. I went back in the shop and notified [redacted] that the hard-start problem was not fixed. He came out to the truck to start it himself, and after several seconds of cranking the engine it slowly started. I said, "That's not right that it is having that much trouble starting, correct?" His response was, "Maybe you just need to put more money into it." The sad truth is that I was charged for 11 hours of labor ($1,100) for [redacted] Diesel to determine that the cause of the hard-start was a blown fuse in the Air Dog fuel pump, and also the replacement of the heater core and blower motor. The average cost of heater core replacement in my area is $419-$534, leaving the extra $600+ labor costs to determine a fuse was blown and replace it. The bill states "Truck starts good". This statement is entirely false. The repair was not completed as stated. Also, the interior was not re-installed correctly and filthy.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded for the portion of the service that was not completed (hard-start problem) as stated in the final bill. I would also like to have the interior of my vehicle be re-installed correctly. The cup holder plastic that the shifter goes through is now very loose, and wasn't loose before it was in [redacted] Diesel's possession. Also, the pillar gauges were installed in an improper manner. The interior was also made very filthy from the technician, and should have been cleaned.
