Mumpower Hills Farms Reviews (2)

I have done a lot of business with Mumpower Hills Farm and I have never had anything but a great experience with Mr. Mumpower. Everything we had discussed prior to me coming and picking up the lambs, were exactly on point and not misleading. He seems to be very knowledgeable and informed when it comes to breeding registered katahdin sheep. I felt it was necessary to post a review because of the one bad review that they have, that personally, I feel is not true. Mr. Mumpower knows a lot about breeding and puts what he learns in his business classes to good use when it comes to running a farm. He never once manipulated me or made me feel like I couldnt ask quetions. If I did have any questions at all, he would get back to me as soon as possible and work with me to resolve my issue or concern. I do know first hand that Mr. Mumpower truly cares about breeding livestock and I feel like everyone should get a chance to work with Mumpower Hills Farm.

Review: Mr. Mumpower posted Registered Katahdin lambs for sale. His original [redacted] listing was at [redacted] but your system won't allow me to input the number as it says it's a social security numberHe has edited and relisted several times. I responded and said I would be interested in reserving a ram lamb. I made it known to him that I wanted a PUREBRED WHICH WOULD BE 100%. You cant register offspring of unregistered ewes if you dont have a purebred ram. He has posted several ads since them and has changed the wording around. Never once did he say that this ram would only be registerable as 75%. When I picked up the ram on 5/27/15, he said he would mail the registration papers to me. I waited over one month with him making up multiple excuses as to why he had not mailed them yet and when I finally received them, the ram was only registered as 75%. I have asked him for a refund and said I would return the lamb. He said I could return the ram and that he would refund my money. Now, he claims hes unavailable and is now saying he will have his hauler mail me the money when he takes the ram to Pennsylvania. He should not be deceiving customers this way.Desired Settlement: I'm asking for a refund of $335 for purposeful deception.

Response:

First and foremost, I'd like to say that I will address each and every concern Miss [redacted] had listed in her complaint, one by one. Miss [redacted] spoke with my in the first few months of the year (Febuary/March) when I had made initial postings to begin advertising our 2015 Lamb Crop that shortly thereafter begun lambing in Middle-March. When we first spoke on the phone, we spoke for nearly 40 minutes discussing what I had, and what would be available. She also stated that she was on a budget, and wanted her ram for no more than 200 dollars, so I matched her request, and sold the ram for 200 dollars and that I would go through the registration process for an additional 25, totaling the cost of her ram at 225 dollars. ANYONE running a registered sheep business KNOWS that a Registered ram does not come at this price tag... I sought after [redacted] who I am very grateful was my mentor when I begun sheep farming. I asked for a statement from her regarding the first portion of Miss [redacted]'s statement regarding her complaint. [redacted]'s statement below identifies the trouble that Miss [redacted] had when she was contacting me, in the fact that her terminology was not supported by the registry as to what EXACTLY she wanted, and was looking for. To close out the portion of complaint regarding registration, [redacted] never once stated she wanted a "100%" ram, this would be the case had she have known what was going on. After she purchased this ram on 5/27/2015... that day I paid for the registration and transfer of papers to her name. I gave ample time for the registry to send the papers, I emailed them after about 2-3 weeks and no registration papers. I then got the response shortly thereafter that I have included below... (I deleted the name of another farm for the purpose of their privacy. I had also requested the papers and the transfer to them, which they had already received). The original address she had given me was not correct. So as she bashed us for the delay in the papers on her ram, I was working with the registry to get them to her as soon as possible, but she chose not to believe me. [redacted] requested a almost rude request that she wanted nearly 110 dollars more than the cost of the ram... including additional fees for the "cost of her time in e-mails" but yet here we both are spending both of our time submitting complaints, and me responding... Shouldn't I send an invoice for my time in this case? This has been the entire story line in this dealing with Miss [redacted]. I gave her the opportunity for me to take my time, and my dealings to send the ram to [redacted] along with the rams in which I sent of my own, which she did not accept. I would like to say that the many positive experiences, buying and selling that has went on at Mumpower Hills Farm does outweigh this first negative that led to a complaint. We look forward to the dealings in the future and thank all who have worked with us and continue to do so. Thanks,Gray MumpowerMumpower Hills Farm

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First

of all, Mr. Mumpower states that “we spoke for nearly 40 minutes.” The fact is Mr. Mumpower did all the speaking

and basically rambled on, not allowing me to ask any questions

or get any information. He seems to have

used what he learned in his Business classes to manipulate his customers into

believing his lies.

Mr.

Mumpower states that I never said I wanted a 100% ram. However, I did tell him I wanted a “PUREBRED”

and I quote purebred meaning PURE OF ONE BREED per my email. Second, Mr. Mumpower never told me that this

ram would only be registerable as 50% Katahdin OR THAT HIS OFFSPRING WOULD NOT

BE REGISTERABLE AS 100%, AN IMPORTANT DETAIL TO LEAVE OUT!

The

fact is I did give him the correct address as my PO Box has never had any

problems with any other registry including the [redacted],

a well-known organization. If Mr.

Mumpower would have been organized and shown me the registration application

and the parents papers the day I picked up the ram lamb I would have seen that

he was only 50%. But instead he hid the

papers and this information from me until after he had received the money and I

had driven over four hours.

He

states that anyone “running a registered sheep business KNOWS that a Registered

ram does not come at this price tag.”

Well if that were the case, I wouldn’t have been able to purchase three 100%

registered ewes I have for $200 each.

Lastly, if Mr. Mumpower is selling the so-called story he claims to Ms.

[redacted], I AM MORE THAN HAPPY to forward the actual emails in which I

requested a PUREBRED RAM if she wants to contact me.

The

extra money I requested was for transportation and feed costs for the month,

which I broke down in my email request.

I do not recommend anyone deal with this man for the purchase of

ANYTHING unless you plan on being deceived.

I

am asking for a full refund and my expenses from this transaction which now

total around $400.

Regards,
