I had reserved a *** rental truck service for moving into a new apartment on 1 May 2020 for 4 hours. The entire process was self check-in. I used the service for 2 hours and drove 7 kms as mentioned in the documents attached. After couple of days, they have claimed damage to the roof of the truck and charged me about 1200$ for the same. There was another rental booking for the same truck at 6 pm on 1 May 2020 but according to the damage report attached, the inspection was done next morning on 2 May 2020. There is a surveillance camera installed in the truck park to check the authenticity of the inspection but conveniently it's not in working condition. Also, I talked to the U-Haul representative and they confirmed that the photos of the car sent to me for approval where taken on 28 April 2020 and there were no bookings between 28 April and 1 May 2020. But this contradicts the statement given by Mr. Mahesh K (the owner of Munchies N More store from where the truck was picked) that there were 4 bookings before mine. They have no definite proof regarding the damage and are placing the blame on me. Moreover they did not send me any details, if and when they have repaired the damages, where did they repair, the damage images. they just sent me the bill. Also, I took a CDW insurance on the vehicle before renting it which apparently doesn't cover rooftop damages. This feels like a con where they conveniently placed charges that weren't covered by insurance . Please help.
