Muncy Bank & Trust Reviews (%countItem)

I have been using this bank for a long time. (since 2009)
I have recently been told, after noticing changes on my account for $7 each, that my account type has been changed without my knowing or approval. They changed my account from a no minimum, no charge checking account to an account that gets charged a maintenance charge every time it goes below $100. I use this account for nothing but bills, and only gets enough money placed into it for the bills. When the manager called me back from the bank, all she wanted to do was sell me a more expensive account. I have the original paperwork from when I created my account stating no monthly charges and no minimum balance.

Dear ***:

After a thorough due diligence process the decision was made in February 2019 to consolidate and update the bank’s consumer checking account offerings. Our new accounts are more robust and include benefits that existing and new customers find useful. The accounts we offered prior to October 21, 2019 are no longer available.

Banking regulation requires we provide our consumer customers a 30-day notice of any changes to their accounts. The updates to our checking accounts were discussed with bank auditors and examiners and found to be compliant with consumer banking regulations as long as we provided the required notification. On September 16, 2019 we mailed our customers a letter outlining the changes that would occur effective October 21, 2019. Included with the letter were frequently asked questions, an account benefits reference guide, Truth in Savings Notice and a fee schedule. The customer in complaint #*** was mailed a letter to the address included in the complaint. As of the date of this letter we have not received notice that the letter was undeliverable.

Muncy Bank works hard to offer fair products and services at the same time being a generous contributor to many groups in our communities where we do business.

Please contact me with any other questions concerning this complaint.

Sincerely,

Robert G.
President & CEO

Muncy Bank & Trust Response • Mar 09, 2020

Dear ***:

Per our conversation Friday we have resent the account change notice to Quincy Shaffer. Attached are copies of the documents that were included in the letter. As noted in our response dated February 28, 2020, the initial notice was mailed on September 16, 2019. The letter outlined the changes that would occur effective October 21, 2019, and was accompanied by other documents that listed frequently asked questions, an accounts benefits reference guide, a Truth in Savings Notice and a fee schedule. Our records indicate that the address that we have on file, for *** is the same as was included in your initial correspondence dated February 24, 2020. Additionally, all mail returned to us by the US Postal Service is reviewed and tracked. We have not received any returned mail from the post office to inform us that the mail to *** was undeliverable or that the addressee had moved with a forwarding address.

Based on our records, all notification procedures were in place to assure that any mail that was returned to the bank by the post office, was properly and promptly re-addressed.

Based on our discussion Friday you stated you have everything you need to satisfy your review of this complaint and the matter is now closed.

Thank you for your quick handling of this matter

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

This is an awful way to do business.

I do not want these "extra benefits" you are trying to jam down my throat.

Thank you for supplying me with the documents (For the first time).

Although I don't understand how you can just change someones account that has signed paperwork showing no minimum balance and no monthly fees, I am not a lawyer. You may be in the right!

Obviously, you care more about the money you are taking from your loyal members then you do about keeping them.

I will be creating an account with a new bank and transferring my funds once all of my direct deposits have been changed.

I will be sure to share my experience I have had.

Never again will you have my business.

Regards
