Our customer did purchase a rifle from our store.  This item was purchased on 7/23/2016.  He called our store shortly after asking if
we did returns because his dad had purchased one for him and he did not need
two.  He was informed that we did not buy
back used rifles and we would...

not be returning the rifle.  [redacted] shortly thereafter called our store stating that his
firearm was defective.  It was determined
by our staff that the gas block pins were removed.  There was minor damage to the firearm which
we have pictures of.  This would not
typically be done by someone with a background in gunsmithing or someone using
correct tools.Our sporting goods manager did field a call from our
customer and offered to fix the firearm for him if there was a manufacturer
defect.  Our customer was told we would
send it back to [redacted] if there was, in fact, a defect and that he would need to
bring in the firearm to determine the problem. 
Upon the customer bringing it in, our staff along with [redacted], determined
that it was not a defect, but rather a modification that did not turn out
correctly. Long story short, the “missing” pins and block are in fact either a
modification or an attempt to return the item as a defective unit; neither of
which would be part of our return policy. Our return policy is clearly stated
at the gun counter in several locations, as well as on the receipt.  This would be in accordance with an industry
standard.  Lastly, we do not purchase
used firearms as a company.We did have the firearm for a
short time while we contacted [redacted] to see what their opinion of the alleged
defect was.  [redacted] has stated that it
would be impossible to have a firearm leave their facility with that damage to
the firearm in that specific spot along with pins missing.  We have a statement from [redacted] from
