considering the circumstancesIt should be readily apparent that responsible individuals do not wait six months to raise issues concerning transactions previously paid and accepted-Please note the following: the consumer did not dispute this transactionThe charges with this consumer were not for one purchase, rather they were for several separate transactions and as noted by the attached invoices, each transaction was authorized and approved.The consumer deliberately omitted several key factsServices wereengaged to diagnose an knock in the engine of his antique *** motor carIt was determined that the engine had to be rebuilt and the consumer authorized the rebuild by making the deposit of the $3,Our company removed the engine and had it shipped to a machine shop for a rebuildHowever, after further testing it was determined that in addition to the defective engine parts, the engine block had a crack which rendered the engine uselessThe consumer then had a choice, either purchase a new replacement or have the engine rebuiltHe chose the latterWhat the consumer fails to disclose is that you just don't go to the store and purchase a replacement block for a year old vehicleThe machine shop had to search the country to locate a suitable block, have it shipped to its facility, then it had to be shipped to another facility to have the bearing specially bored into the blockIt is a complex procedure and only a few shops still provide these services.This took over six months and the consumer was fully advised that it would take a longer period of time and he agreed to the delayMurphy Brothers had nothing to do with the delays associated with the engine rebuildIndeed, the engine was returned in April and promptly installed and the consumer was told he could pick up his vehicleApparently however, he can’t afford the authorized work and now wants to avoid paying- gThe consumer made reference to the fact that he filed a complaint with the Maryland Attorney General Office of Consumer AffairsHe says nothing was done so he has filed another complaint with the Montgomery County Office of Consumer AffairsWhat he fails to state is that the initial complaint has been investigated, they have received our input and there is no merit to his allegations.I have attached the invoices pertaining to the engine rebuildIt clearly shows his approval and advises him that it is fairly common to find additional problems upon dismantling and restoring antique vehicles.Your organization has a responsibility to the both the vendor and consumerThe granting of a charge back without the attendant inquiry adversely affects a small business such as this CompanyWe have expended over seven thousand dollars to other vendors for work performed on this consumers vehicleKindly correct this error as soon as possibleIf the matter is not corrected with fourteen days from the receipt of this correspondence, it will be forwarded to our attorney for further action.Very truly yours, Brian M
