Review: 1. I hired Murphy Building to build a shed for me March 18, 2008 for $12,000. Last summer we found the roof sliding off the shed and the bottom of the door frame rotted. One year warranty in contract.
2. Hired Murphy Building to replace a bow window and front door with new [redacted] replacements on October 13, 2011 for a total cost of $20,000. This work is still under warranty, contract states 5 years. The window settled by the summer of 2014 (15 months ago) and one casement would no longer open. I believe the price of the window alone was $9000 and I was concerned the window frame would be permanently damaged from settling on one side.
I contacted Bob M on and off via e-mail, text and phone calls for 9 months starting October 2014 to fix the window. He stopped by once in March and said it was too cold to adjust the bow window and said he would be back. I contacted him several times in spring and summer (I have text and e-mail records) and Bob was unresponsive. I finally had another contractor come look at the issues in September and it cost me $2500 to have these repairs done to the window and shed. Turns out the roofing shingles on the shed were not installed properly, they were stapled onto the roof through the thin part of the shingle so when the shingles got hot in the sun the staples melted through and the shingles fell off. The glue also never melted and adhered properly so the shingles were probably old when they were installed. The shed door frame was wood and was only primed not painted as stated in contract so the bottom 3 inches on either side of the door frame rotted leaving the bottom threshold unsecured. The entire roof and door frame had to be replaced on the shed after 7 years. I have pictures of the damage to the shed roof and door frame.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for the $2500 it cost me to have the bow window adjusted, shed roof replaced and shed door frame replaced.
