Murphy Door

I bought this mirror door for over 2500.00. think about it. over 2500.00. it was made of MDF which is crap to hold weight and this type of material, screws come loose all the time and pull our regular in doors. The jambs are MDF. The backing of the Mirror is MDF. Not Wood. This is crap for durability and NO decent instructions to put this together. You will be better off buying the hinges by yourself and designing something with your cabinet maker and I promise you will be half the price and much much stronger at the end. I FEEL SCREWED FINANCIALLY ON THIS BIG TIME. What a Rip Off based on selling Price. It Also does not mention that the base is raised to support the mirror so don't think the mirror is the full opening of the door. You have to raise this off the floor to look right but when installing it there is a box you have to build and put at the bottom and it will make it higher for you to step in whereas its about knee high. Hope you are not too old... haha.

Purchased two Murphy door units which wasn't easy. They didn't fully explain several construction details which resulting in having make a change order within days of ordering..costing a lot. There was improper packing for one of the two doors which resulted in one of the doors being damaged. I documented this, showing both were packed on the same pallet with one door arriving fine but the other was damaged. They basically didn't properly secure the shelves inside the one door and it caused the damage. They wanted me to file a claim against the freight carrier as concealed damage but it wasn't due to the Carrier...it was improper packing! That's just bad and false business practice. The really bad part of buying from MD is their product isn't worth the dollars spent...looks cheap and feels cheap. Add to their poor customer service and it's a first time, last time and never again time company to do business with

I really wanted to love my Murphy Door experience. The concept is awesome, hidden doors, clever design, quality craftsmanship. But what should have been a smooth premium purchase turned into a months long headache.

I ordered a flush mount out-swing bookcase door along with several add ons (the AutoSwing opener, electromagnetic lock, and wireless fobs). The door itself is nice, but the add ons were a complete nightmare as they were not compatible with my door. Some of the items showed up not in their original packaging and honestly looked like refurbished equipment, which was never disclosed when I bought them.

The bigger issue, though, was customer service. Getting real help was next to impossible. Most “product specialists” are basically just sales reps reading off a script. When you have an actual technical issue, they cannot really help. I'd email customer support, get a text message response that almost always completely ignored the issues I'd outlined in my email message.

After spending thousands of dollars, I ended up having to contact the actual manufacturers of the add on products just to get working parts and support. And here is the kicker. Those same items are sold directly by the original vendors for less money, often with way better customer service.

If you are thinking about buying from Murphy Door, my advice is this:
Buy the door from them, because that is what they do well. But skip all the upsells and order any accessories (like openers, locks, or key fobs) directly from the third party companies. You will save money, get the parts in proper condition, and will not be stuck waiting weeks for answers that never come.

It is a shame, because the idea behind Murphy Door is great. But the customer experience, especially around their add ons, really misses the mark.

This customer order bifolding bookcase as he stated, the door was delivered assembly but the hardware needed to be installed, which this absolutely should have been done by us and he has every reason to be frustrated In addition the customer did have some missing components that he did have to go and resolve, for this there was a refund made for the errands he ran.Instructions have always been on our website under the how to tab at the top The reason we do this is our instructions are video based and not printed only As far as the extended shelf pin lock and what he received is exactly what we show on our website, as well as what it is describing A shelf pin lock that is long enough to go through both sides of the bookcases.I do agree with this customer that the $refund that was given by the salesman was insufficient for his efforts and should be the $he felt like was fair
