Our experience with Murphy's Custom Homes has been a pleasure from the start of construction thru moving in, to taking care of the after construction punch list. The whole staff was courteous and helpful throughout, but we would like to especially mention Tim, Beth, and Brice.
Brice Thomas was our first contact and he got us started with planning and layout. He continued to stay in contact through the finish of the home. Tim Murphy took care of the construction and we can't say enough about him. He was always there to answer our questions. His many years of experience and expertise really showed through by coming up with innovative solutions to problems that arose. All the while keeping our budget in mind. Beth Murphy was a god-send and guided us through the interior selection process, picking cabinets, colors, floors, counters, and the hundreds of other decisions that had to be made. Again keeping the budget in line.
We couldn't be more pleased with our results. The house is beautiful and was finished on time despite Colorado spring weather problems. Murphy's Custom Homes was an outstanding company to work with! We would highly recommend this team.

We had Murphy Custom Homes build a home for us. We worked closely with Tim and Beth on the project. We found them to be honest, caring, and driven to delivery us the home of our dreams. They were flexible and allowed us to work closely with them to select finishes and designs. It was an amazing experience. With a complex project such as building a house with many different subcontractors, there were ups and downs. Tim and Beth always worked with us to ensure we were happy and the project progressed. We have kept in contact with them even though the project ended several years ago. They treat us like we are part of their family.

We worked w/ MCHI 3 yrs. MCHI delivered a substandard experience and product, 13 mo. after contract completion date. From contract to close, it took 19 months to build 2,500sf main floor home. Tim Murphy was uninvolved and had no supervisor. Communication within MCHI and with everyone was terrible. Contractors complained about no response and no payment, vendors complained about no response, bank complained about inaccurate builder draw requests and extensions. Design engineering failed first County inspection, framing failed County inspection 6x. The foundation had leveling and window omission issues requiring rework. MCHI ordered doors, wood floors, windows, sinks, tile, etc. incorrectly and tried to convince us to keep. We accepted early occupancy 13 months after the contract date. 1-year warranty presented at close, expired 6 mo. later. Tim did no walk through. We hired 3rd party Builder who made a 6-page punch list, took MCHI 5 mo.to do. We are still fixing MCHI's poor work.

Murphy's Custom Homes, Inc. is troubled by the portrayal of our dealings with this client. We worked diligently to provide the client with a beautiful custom home, and went above and beyond to try and meet their demands. Unfortunately, it appears now that Murphy's Custom Homes was not able to meet this client's expectations. However, we maintain that Murphy's Custom Homes delivered a high-quality product on a timeline that was reasonable under the specific circumstances.
Many upgrades were provided at no additional cost, including a 11 x 10 finished storage area above the main level.

Timeline

The client entered a pre-build front-end contract with us in order to design their custom home on 5/7/15. Due to our client's requirement to have a firm price for building their custom home before a scheduled lot loan closing date of 7/23/15, we accelerated this front-end process and delivered finished plans with a detailed scope of work and build price on 7/17/15. At that time, the client informed us they needed to make changes in order to reduce the build price. With the lot loan close deadline looming, we were able to reduce square footage without compromising the integrity of the house design or floor plan and provide the client with a revised contract price that met their budget on 7/20/15. At client's request before entering into a build contract with us, they continued to modify their house plans and revise selections. We also created multiple 3D images of their revised floor plans to help them visualize their living space. We provided added value by creating a full landscape plan for their project and researched swimming pool contractors and other items outside of our scope of work. Three floor plan revisions later from new client requests; we contracted to build their custom home on 9/17/15. Shortly before the scheduled construction loan closing on 10/30/15, we revised the plans several more times at the request of the client. We submitted the final "permit set" of plans to the building department on 12/3/15. The build permit was issued on 1/4/16, and after the surveyor staked the house location and provided elevations for the build site, excavation work commenced on 2/2/16. After three weeks of rain related weather delays that prohibited foundation work, foundation work commenced on 3/7/16. Spring forward, we provided the client with a Certificate of Occupancy on 12/2/2016, 10 months after breaking ground. All punch list items were completed with help from clients scheduling time to get into home.
