Review: All 50 round diamonds comprising the earrings I purchased with $7,500.00 (seven thousand five hundred dollars) cash on 12/*/2013 are clarity enhanced diamonds (sometimes referred to as 'fracture filling'). Clarity enhancement is considered an unstable treatment in that the color or clarity can change due to any number of factors that untreated diamonds are not subject to. The FTC Guideline 23.22 (deception as to gemstones) states: "It is unfair or deceptive to fail to disclose that a gemstone has been treated'. The vendor never communicated verbally or on the receipt that the diamonds were clarity enhanced or 'fracture filled'.Desired Settlement: FTC Guideline 23.22 prohibits the vendor in question from selling clarity enhanced or 'fracture filled' diamonds without disclosure. Therefore, the vendor should provide a full cash refund of $7,500.00. The earrings were examined and determined to be clarity enhanced or 'fracture filled' by an independent 3rd party gemologist.
