Hello,Ironically, this user filed a complaint against us but it should be in the reverse. This user opened a false [redacted] account which he then linked to his duplicate fan account on Music Xray. He then gamed our system to send him more far songs for a paid listen than a normal user would receive....

On top of that, upon each listen he clicked a button to become a direct fan of all the songs/artists he heard, violating our user agreement which requests users to give each song a listen to to provide a sincere reaction and taking money from independent musicians seeking authentic fan reaction and user feedback. Lastly, when we noticed the anomaly and we began investigating internally while withholding his payment, he filed this complaint with the Revdex.com.We are happy to direct this user to our legal team if he would like to pursue it further.Regards,Music Xray

It's understandable that someone would be disappointed after investing that much money in the hopes of getting a specific result and to not get that result. We understand and are sympathetic to that. In this case, the result the user wanted was to receive a monetarily compensated offer for his music...

and talent. There are many ways to try to achieve that and many musicians do achieve it through Music Xray. Nevertheless, the only result that Music Xray promises is to deliver a user's music to the industry professionals to whom the user submits and to guarantee the professional will listen and respond to the submitter. In each case, Music Xray delivered that result to this user. Many musicians receive paid and unpaid offers through Music Xray. The only differences between those users and ones who don't is the music submitted, the timing, and the submission strategy (deciding which professionals and opportunities are most appropriate for the user's music and talents). There are some features on our site that are enhancements to our service but are not part of what the users pay for. Some of them provide users with data insights regarding their music and the music of other artists who use the site. The methodology regarding how this data is generated, parsed, and calculated is displayed in several places on the site and can easily be searched using [redacted] and other popular search engines. Even though our data has shown to be 92% accurate both on paper and in practice, we clearly label these features as beta features and we make accurate and transparent claims about them. Upon opening an account and upon each transaction users accept our terms of service. We understand this user's disappointment, but the fact is that prior to Music Xray, the cost to anyone to get their music heard and considered by these same professionals would have been much higher and taken much longer. We wish this user the best but we cannot offer a refund given we have provided the services we we offer.

Hi [redacted],I saw the complaint you sent to Revdex.com regarding payment, but our records show a $0 balance Fan account associated with the email [redacted] and payouts made to the [redacted] Artist account and a $0 balance. The payments were sent via [redacted] to the...

address you listed: [redacted] and everything was resolved on 12/*/16. We typically processes payments bi-monthly giving priority as they come in. With our transition to a new accounting system this took slightly longer than normal. Here's the exact timestamp of the payment. Please let us know here, at [redacted] or via [redacted] if you did not receive it and we'll cancel that payment and reissue it. [redacted] Best,Joseph S[redacted]VP, Operations and Community Development

Review: Music Xray allows you to review music and in return, you are compensated $0.10 for every 30 seconds listened. They require you to have earned at least $20.00 in order to request a payout. On Sept. 26, 2015 I had reached my $20.00 required amount and requested a payout. After you submit your request, it tells you that payment processing takes approximately 2 weeks. I waited my 2 weeks and put in a help desk ticket to ask about my payment. Here is the ticket thread For first request: Ticket # [redacted] and for My Second ticket requesting again, another Payment request: Ticket #

Finally I have had enough of waiting and no one really getting the issue taken care of, so I felt that this should be reported due to auto responses and no action taken.Desired Settlement: I would love to receive my full payment of $88.60 to my [redacted] Account: [redacted] And continue to listen and review music. Music XRay needs to hire someone to pay people out in a timely manner.

Response:

I really am not satisfied with this companies resolution to me and I don't have the time to waste on a company that most likely doesn't payout anyone who exceeds their minimum payout policy request. I just don't want to deal with them anymore. Too much of a headache. I have a second [redacted] account, which is not a false [redacted] account due to it having all of my correct information. There is no policy on having more than one account... you can't have more than one account if you are using a different email account. I didn't "game" their system, I clearly asked in a helpdesk ticket how to get more reviews, I was told by Music Xray staff to change my artists and my genres to different artists and genres up to be able to get more songs to review, which happened. So, if that is "gaming" the system, Music Xrays staff told me how to do it. Music Xray has no clue as to what I listen to when I hear a song. They give you an option to become a fan or not a fan. Why must I have to put down that I am not a fan to certain music?? I am a musician myself and have been my whole life. I have experimented with all of the genres they have listed and appreciate all music as it is an art. I may not purchase the bands mp3, but I could certainly be a fan of their hard work. As far as Music Xray accusing me of "taking money from independent musicians seeking authentic fan reaction

and user feedback", The website needs to have a little more than, "fan" or "not a fan" for a authentic fan reaction. After I made my complaint to the Revdex.com, Music Xray deleted my account and all of my helpdesk tickets with all of my provided concerns, but also compliments given to the company. Oh well, just another scam company.I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: In April 2015 I paid $23 to submit one song to MusicXRay for music publisher [redacted].

After 45 days my song had still not been reviewed by [redacted] and I requested a refund as part of Musicxray's 45 day listen and response guarantee.

I received a $13 credit (out of the $23 I paid), which was deposited to a MusicXRay account that I cannot make a withdrawal from without first hitting a balance of $20. This is completely unethical as it ties my refund into further spending on Musicxray's system. So - I can't even access the little money that they did refund me.

After emailing the company president ([redacted]) and explaining my situation I received an email back from him basically deflecting my concerns and defending the company.

Although [redacted] told me I'd get a refund - he did not specify when (or how much) and has since gone silent and not replied to my emails.

Musicxray is part of a growing number of websites that prey on eager musicians with grandiose "opportunities" with music publishers and entertainment companies - which at best, they are (maybe) only loosely affiliated with. They act as 'gatekeepers' and are eager to capitalize off of the dreams and ambitions of musicians worldwide.

It is my understanding that they use automated software ([redacted]) to 'match' songs with fans - however all the 'fans' they provide (from my experience) are nothing more than bogus [redacted] 'bots'. The website provides no added value or services that help the careers of their customers, just these listings that they essentially hold little accountability for and collect money from.

Although they do provide generic music industry ratings (a 5 star rating system) for your songs - the so-called 'experts' are anonymous (likely a robot) and offer no specific feedback or insight. So that portion of the system is absolutely worthless.

Most people will not escalate such matters over a relatively small amount of money - so they are able to do this over and over again with no accountability or regulation to anyone. Most musicians will forget about submissions after 45 days and do not follow up or raise concern. They bank on the fact that not many people are going to spend the time to dispute a charge in the range of 15-25 dollars.

In researching the company further I found it very concerning that one of the main businesses they work with ([redacted]) is run by a woman ([redacted] aka [redacted]) with a very checkered past: [redacted]

Musicxray should not have a $20 minimum policy on withdrawing funds in instances where customers are being refunded. I simply want a refund and should not have to jump through hoops or escalate matters to obtain it - especially over such a trivial amount of money.Desired Settlement: A full refund of $23.00.

Sincerely,

I did not get any songs in music fan match box

I think by experience that this business gets away with so much. So many artist get selected and get the so called deal and never make a dime or even any update except an email link that never gets replies. The fact that they got rid of the forum should ring alarm bells. Day after day so much negative feedback, not helping them make more sales so they got rid of it. Even the blog never publishes comments. Fans asking for music to listen to and not getting any, artist getting erratic diagnostics results or worse being on hold for a year with no response. I guess I won and was a success by music xray standards, but made more money on Spotify and cd baby and that is sad because its only a couple $$. When Music Xray puts the artist first they will be a legit business. Let all the artist leave comments and [redacted] video reviews. It is the the business apart from the venture capital. Also, the whole buy this product every [redacted] of the month for a refund on the [redacted] or [redacted] of next month is a bit fishy. Like trying to boost the sales numbers makes me think of a triangular shaped object in Egypt. Peace out song sharks, Charlie M**, Tono M[redacted] and company......
