Mustang Veterinary Hospital Reviews (1)

My name is *** "R" ***,
DVM and I own Mustang Veterinary Hospital, P.CI want to tell how I run my
businessThe principle I follow is to keep the safety and well being of my patients of paramount importance.Referencing my policies on spaying and neutering, I bring it up at the first
week
visit I have with new puppies and kittens.I tell my clients they need to be thinking about if they want their
pet to be a breeder or notThe optimal time to spay/neuter them is months/
#, whichever comes firstIf the pets are older,
it is important not to spay females if they are estrogen dominantWhen they
are estrogen dominant, their blood does not clot very well
and any surgical procedure is more dangerous due to increased risk of bleeding
and/or infectionIf a
female have cystic ovaries, she will stay estrogen dominant and she is at risk
of developing a life threatening condition, pyometra, and that increased risk must be taken to avoid a bigger
risk of a pyometraHowever, females with cystic ovaries can not get pregnantIf a
female does get pregnant, it is much safer to spay her at 3-weeks of pregnancy, even though there are
puppies in the uterus, because she is progesterone, not estrogen dominant.Referring to Raven, she was estrogen dominant when I saw her 5-22-17, 7- 19-17, and about weeks pregnant on 8-16-I thought she had cystic ovaries due to her being estrogen
dominant for such a long time and that is why I was going to spay her 8-16-On 7-19-the owner had called and advised she was gone for a couple of
days and possibly was pregnantShe was advised at that time to bring her in in daysIf she had cystic ovaries, she would not have been pregnant and I would have accepted the
risk and spayed herHowever, she was palpably pregnant, and I did not spay her
at that time for two reasonsIt was not the optimal time for the surgery, and
I do not do abortionsI did tell the husband, when he picked her up, that I
would not do the surgery, but he was given a name and phone number of a spay clinic that will spay pregnant dogs all the way to termI would not do
the surgery, but I did give him an option if they did not want the puppies. The reasons I would not spay her right after she came home are I do not do
abortions and more importantly if she got out again, after her surgery, being bred would breakdown her internal sutures and she would likely die due to bleeding and/or infection. On 8-16-Mrs*** called me in a very loud and angry voice. She was demanding to know why I did not spay RavenI tried to explain to her my reasons and she kept interrupting
meI asked her if she wanted to hear my explanation and
she said she didJust as I started, I found myself talking to a dial tone
She had hung up on me.I do not understand why it is my fault she waited so long
to try and get Raven spayed and why it is my fault she let her run loose
and get pregnantAgain, I gave them
a way out of this pregnancy, even if it was not me doing thesurgery
