Worst insurance company I have ever dealt with! I signed up for a short term disability policy in preparation for a pregnancy. The representative, after after discussing why I was signing up, told me to sign up for a 6 month policy. When it came time to file I was told I would be paid for 6 weeks of my pregnancy with a two week elimination period, meaning I would be paid for only four weeks of my maternity leave! Needless to say I was a little upset. I sent in my claim in November with a baby expected in February. I received an email claiming they had received my paperwork and would review it. After 2 months without hearing from them I contacted Mutual of Omaha to find out my paperwork was sent to the wrong department and I would have to resend my paperwork. After resending it to the "correct" department I received an email from the rep I spoke with on the phone stating she would "personally bring my paperwork over for review". Several weeks later I received a phone call stating I would need to fill out new forms because the forms I was given were the wrong ones and resubmit them once again. I once again sent in the paperwork for my claim (which was two days before I gave birth). This time I was given a claim number. 6 weeks after my daughter was born I called to see where my money was. Mutual of Omaha stated they had yet to receive my medical records. After calling on my medical records I discovered they had submitted the wrong information in order to obtain my information stalling my claim yet again. A week later I called my doctors to confirm my medical records had been sent in. Another few weeks go by and I call Mutual of Omaha to find out where my money was. They claimed they had not received by medical records even though I had confirmed they were sent. Mutual of Omaha stated they would get back to me the next day about the issue. Another week went by and I receive a phone call requesting additional information on doctors I had seen years ago in order to obtain complete medical records (which should have been handled when they received my claim months ago).
Needless to say I am STILL waiting on my money from this company and have now been back to work for three weeks after being off for eight weeks of maternity leave.
This company is highly disorganized, has poor follow through and employees who are incompetent. As soon as I receive my money I am cancelling my policy.
