I do not have a written quoteThe vet , [redacted] , gave me the quote verbally I did follow up,with an email confirming that the $ [redacted] included tax but the reply says, 'if you got,a quote for $ [redacted] it includes tax', so that doesn't really prove itThe vet admitted she had told me $*** on the phone but had a bunch of excuses as to why it had to be more nowI will attach the email I received back

They have agreed to refund some money to me. It is not entirely what I requested but I think it is all they will do and it is not worth the effort to pursue it more. Lessons learned.

To Whom It May Concern:
On [redacted] two dogs were presented late in
the day with multiple lacerations to their bodies as a result of a
dog fight that occurred while under the pet sitters care. One dog
had a large laceration to the eye, numerous puncture wounds, and
lacerations on both ears. The other dog came in laterally recumbent
and was unable to stand. There were also multiple lacerations and
puncture wounds on this patient, and this patient was going into
shock. Because of the extent of the injuries to both dogs, IV
catheters were placed and IV fluids were started. Because of the
extent of discomfort and the immediate need to close the wounds, both
patients had to be sedated and required emergency surgery. All
wounds were clipped and cleaned, given injectable antibiotics, and
pain control. A radiograph was taken of the more severely wounded
patient to access the damage. The doctor stayed until after 8 pm
with 2 technicians in an attempt to make sure the dogs got the best
quality care. Over the next few days, pain medications and
antibiotics were given to ensure the healing of both patients. The
complicating factor in this situation was that the owner was out of
town. The doctor was under the impression that she would do what was
needed to make sure that both patients were healing and pain was kept
under control. Numerous things were done to lower the cost,
including; no emergeny exam was charged, no after hours care was
charged, no hospitalization was charged, the owner was charged
boarding prices only even though both patients were critical cases.
The cost difference between the estimate and what was charged was the
use of canned food to try to get the dogs to eat, additional pain
injections because the dogs were in severe pain, and a stronger
antibiotic to avoid infection. There were no excessive or extraneous
charges or procedures performed. The second thing that affected
cost, was that the two patients spent an additional night in the
hospital because the owner was not back yet. The attending doctor
tried to explain the differences in cost, but the owner was
displeased with any of her answers. The clinic owner was called in,
but the owner of the dogs only wanted to hear that she was getting
money back. She refused to hear any explanation about all the work
that was involved to save her two pets. We do our absolute best to
stick to estimates, and the last thing we want is for someone to feel
uncomfortable with their bill. It is by our code of ethics that any
veterinarian would not let an animal suffer if they knowingly felt
the patient was hurting while in our care.
