My Favorite Pet - Vandalia Animal Clinic is a top-notch veterinary clinic All of the doctors are very knowledgeable, caring and down to earth *** is a fantastic manager and takes care of the clients The office staff are all super friendly and really helpful They always do what they can to accommodate my pets' needs right away by squeezing me in for a last minute appointment or having medications ready when convenient for me I can't say enough good things about the organization Even the vet techs come in to the room to ask how we are doing and love on our dogs and give them treats I have recommended several people to the practice and will continue to do so They are just fantastic!! Thank you because our animals are our family too!

Dr. Joseph operated on my beloved Harold the cat, and removed a 3 foot ribbon that was in his stomach. If she wouldn't have trusted in me that I knew my cat well enough, then he wouldn't be here today!!! Thank you Dr. Joseph, and your staff, for saving my babies life!!!!

I had been a client of My Favorite Pet since 2007. Fortunately, with only a couple of exceptions, my pets have only had to receive routine care. Until this week, my experience with them had been satisfactory. Last week my son took in a rescue puppy 8 months old. I suggested that he take her to be checked. He had some concerns about a possible UTI or bladder infection. Long story short, she was checked out and given an antibiotic. Two days later he thought she was passing blood in her urine and took her back a 2nd time. This time he was given Rimadyl. The dog was simply in heat. At the 1st visit he was not told this. At the 2nd visit, it was confirmed. I contacted 2 other veterinarians and told them the entire story and asked if it were routine to give antibiotics and rimadyl for a dog experiencing heat. Both said absolutely not; unless there was an indication of infection or the dog was in obvious pain. Neither was this puppy's case. I also looked to the internet for additional information on this subject and did not like what I read about possible side effects of Rimadyl. I contacted a close friend who was a breeder for many years and has many friends across the United States that breed and show. I was again told that this was not a common nor recommended method of treatment. After learning this, I contacted the office directly in an effort to speak to the vet herself. I explained the situation to the office manager and was then told that the doctor would not be able to speak to me at that time. Okay, fine, could I speak to a vet technician who would be able to answer my concerns? No, they were not available either. Could I leave my number for a return call? No, I was not the one who brought the dog in. My daughter in law went back to the office in under 30 minutes of the 2nd visit to return the Rimadyl (totally still in tact, not having been opened in any way) and was literally turned away. And treated disrespectful and rude. Instead of becoming defensive over a clients questions and concerns, they should have been more than willing to alleviate them by explaining the reasons for the treatment plan. I have since pulled both of my dog's records from there as well as my son's. There are multiple people (family and friends) that will be doing the same. As for My Favorite Pet, losing clients apparently does not mean a thing to them. They had every opportunity to answer our concerns and chose not to. Definitely not how I want to be treated, nor would I ever recommend anyone who cares enough to question their pets treatment to go.
