My Tech Defense Reviews (4)

I dropped my Ipod Touch off to get the screen repaired. They charged $64 and said it would be finished in a few days. I stopped by regularly and after a month they said it was lost. I spoke to Tom at the headquarters once on the phone and he did not want to replace the lost device. He briefly spoke about a refund, then brushed me off. Now the company will not answer the phone. This Ipod meant a lot to me. Basically they stole my Ipod and charged me for it.

Review: I was recently in San Diego on vacation with some friends. During my time there my iPhone 5 got some water damage and I needed some help to get it fixed. I went to my tech defense in mission valley the day of my flight see if they could help. They seemed very nice and willing to help. They said they would help. So I left it with them and paid 70 dollars for the repair and 15 for shipping cause I live in Taos, NM. [redacted] the manager said they would ship it after it was fixed. Anyway I have called them 7 times and read a bad review that they scam those who are of out of towners. Well they haven't returned one phone call for an update on my phone. I have my receipt from them and would like to sue them. 1. very bad costumer service 2. they give me a big reason to believe that if they do fix it they'll take all my information from my phone. I tried filling a police report but nothin there because technically nothing has happened yet. I would like someone to do something about this terrible company because they are con artists! Thanks for your time.[redacted]Desired Settlement: Refund the 40 of 70 dollars they told me about and give me back my broken iPhone 5

Review: On the advice of a friend I took my iphone 4 to North County Fair Mall and Tech Defense to have the shattered glass replaced, which their employee, [redacted], did for $85. Within about a week the glass shattered while in my pocket. I returned to North County Fair where a new employee, [redacted], looked at it and determined that the cause of the second break was the glass being installed too tightly. He told me [redacted] had been fired for doing shoddy work. He called [redacted], an owner, who approved the warranty and [redacted] repaired the glass. Within hours my phone was malfunctioning. It overheated, dropped calls, turned the speaker on and off in the middle of calls, and, in the middle of calls randomly made calls. After finally determining I was doing nothing to cause any of this I I went to my carrier, Sprint. They told me the LED had been ruined and I needed a new phone. From there I went to Apple, where I was told the same thing. I finally relented and had to purchase a new phone, which I hadn't really wanted to do. returned to North County Fair, where [redacted], the manager, told me he could help me, but had to call the owner. He told me that [redacted] was fired for doing shoddy work. I left my broken phone with [redacted] on Dec. 7. [redacted] was going to pick it up, check it out, and get back with me in about two weeks. Today is Dec. 23 and I still have no phone and no compensation of any type. [redacted] now claims he is a manager but has no ability to make a decision. [redacted] is refusing to take or return my phone calls.Desired Settlement: My phone was working fine until the "technicians" repaired the broken glass. I want my money refunded for shoddy work that forced me to buy a new phone when I didn't want to. Having them pay me some of the cost of my new phone would be wonderful, but I will settle for the money I spent for a repair that didn't happen. Additionally, I have made about 5 trips to North County Fair to deal with this. Some gas compensation is not an unacceptable addition to my costs. I don't trust them enough to take a check, so either cash in hand or money put back on my credit card is the best way.
