Myers Tree & Landscaping Services Reviews (3)

I just had the worst experience with Inside and Out Property Maintenance. I hired them to replant some bushes and replace some old retaining walls on my property. After agreeing to text me with brick options they went ahead and purchased something and installed it without consulting me. In addition the work was poorly done - the bricks were placed on top of dirt and not sand and were completely unstable with the locking edges facing up. The front garden perimeter was also incomplete and they promised to haul away some trash in the backyard which they only partially did. While they promised to come back and complete the job they never did-surprise. I am now paying someone else to redo their work. Worst mistake ever!

Review: We have a contract dated May 11, 2013 for the following:Take down (1) large red oak, take (4) holly trees down, remove all brush, stack all wood. The (4) holly trees was taken down on May 11th and May 12th.They ask for a deposit of $1000.00 in which I paid and on the contract it states they would be back on May 16th to remove the red oak. They did not show up so I called their cell ([redacted]) and ([redacted]) they did not answer the phone so I left a message on May 16th (evening) and it is now May 17th 7:20pm and still nothing. These people said they are brothers(5) of them and they have left the Northern Virginia area and now living in the Richmond area with one of the brothers. The contract also has a contractor's license number and I checked it out and it is to this company (aka) Myers Tree Service. They are giving out cards with different names on them. I know this because they first removed a tree for my neighbor and he made his check out to someone calling himself ([redacted]) they only did (1) tree for him so he was ok with it. I am begining to believe that they are (fly by night people) and taking jobs as they need money.I'm filing this complaint because I do not want to see any other senior citizens get took; like we have.Note: they DO NOT want any checks made payable to the company; only made out to what name they want. For instant they ask me to make the check payable to [redacted] and his brother (or he said) is doing all of the talking and his name is [redacted].I do feel that their license for Class C Contractor should be checked out and also what these people are up to.ThanksMr. [redacted]Desired Settlement: Think that this company should be put out of business and not allowed to work in the state of Virgnia. It appears that they are going from one city to another and leaving no forwarding address of where they are. Also, this is for Revdex.com only, because without an address letters to them would be useless!

The Revdex.com

Dear [redacted],

I have just received your letter concerning Revdex.com ID # [redacted]. I worked for customer

[redacted] address [redacted] on

May 11th and May 12th of2013. My company spoke to the customer about taking down

2 holly trees and 1 very large red oak in the back ofhis house on May 11th of2013. After

giving Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] a price they were hesitant to do the job, then after lowing our

price for them they accepted and signed the contract. After taking down the 2 holly trees

the customer asked about 2 more holly trees on the side ofhis house so we wrote a new

contract with a new price. We took down the 2 holly trees and began with the red oak.

Once the climber proceeded up the red oak he realized it would be a little more

complicated because ofa power line running very close to it. It was close to dark and I

did not want to leave Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]s yard a mess so I told them I would be back

on the 16th of May 2013 when my crew working on other jobs had finished and could

come to this location to help. On the 14th ofMay 2013 I had 2 ofmy company trucks

break down and so I contacted Mr. [redacted] and told him I would be there to take the Red

Oak as soon as my trucks were fixed, he then got angry and said our business was no

longer necessary. Then a few days later I get on the Revdex.com website to look at my business

page and see where he was writing complaints about my company in which I did not

appreciate and then I received the letter from the Revdex.com itself.

I understand that Mr. [redacted] was upset that the job was not able to be completed at the

exact date that the contract stated, which I expressed my apologies, but things happen and

I cannot do a job ifI do not have the proper equipment to do them. Further more I will not

even try to complete a job without the right equipment and risk hurting any ofmy

workers and completing the job poorly because oflack ofequipment.

I expressed my apologies to Mr. [redacted] but that was not enough for him. I understand

that he was upset but my company had a few complication with this job as well. After

pricing the job for him and telling him in detail what would be done he agreed to that

contract. After my company began the job and got to the red oak my workers realized the

job would be more complicated and more time consuming because ofthe power line as I

stated before. After this the customer proceeded to tell me that nothing could touch his

deck or the small patch ofbushes underneath the red oak. When we priced this job we

informed the customer that a few things would fall on the patch ofbuses and on the deck

but that nothing would be damaged and it would all be removed at the completion of the

job or we could rope everything down for a more expensive price because it would be more

time consuming and take more help but he wanted to do the cheaper way. After working on

the job for several hours Mr. [redacted] insisted that nothing touch his deck of the small

patch ofbushes which was not what we had agreed on. As I stated before I express my

apologies for the way this business transaction took place but I was not the only one

who broke the agreement on the contract. My company received only payment for the work

we did. We received $1000.00 for removing the 4 holly trees and left $1100.00 on the job

which was the price for taking down the red oak. My company was not paid for the red oak

so we did not technically break our contract because Mr. [redacted] said our business was not

necessary after he became angry that the job could not be completed on the exact date we

had agreed upon because ofa few minor setbacks. I am not happy that he is bashing my

company on the Revdex.com website because our company was only paid for the work in which we

completed. We did not receive any extra payment, only the payment for the holly trees

in which were completed that day. Also on his complaint he states that my company asks

for checks written to many different people which is also not true. All checks are made

payable to me, [redacted], in which I am the owner of [redacted]

because I do not yet have a business account for it. He also stated we are giving out cards

with different names which is also false ails ofmy cards are the same, I can send ofcopy of

one ifnecessary and I am positive it will match the one Mr. [redacted] has. Another problem he expressed concern for

was that his neighbor had work done by my company and the check was made out to a

[redacted]. That is because the job was sub-contracted to another company because the job

was not big enough for my company to take time out ofour schedule for and the guy the

job was sub-contracted to is named [redacted]. His neighbor was very happy with the work.

Im sure ifyou contacted him he would be more than happy to tell you himself. I do not

appreciate my company being bashed on the Revdex.com website with false information from a

very difficult client. Ifyou have any further questions or concerns you may contact me at

[redacted]. Ifyou receive no answer please leave a message and I will contact you

back as soon as possible. My company and I work in many different areas and do not

always receive the mail sent to my office right away.

Thank you for your time.

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

Regards,

I do not have an offer from Myers Tree Service so therefore I cannot accept this.

Review: A rep for the business came to my front door saying he would chop down some limbs for $400. Then he offered to bring the whole tree down for $1500 the next day. I thought we had dealt with him before, so I signed a contract and gave him a downpayment of $500. He didn't give me a copy of the contract and left with the check, which he quickly cashed that afternoon. It's been 2 days since I saw him and they've been very evasive, not returning calls or providing answers, and certainly not doing any of the work I paid for. I should have known better, but like I say, I thought I'd dealt with them before. These guys are crooks, and I'm out $500. The owner has made no effort to set things right.Desired Settlement: I'd like my money back.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

I have just received your letter concerning Revdex.com Case #[redacted]. After reading the complaint and contacting the complaining customer I was able to find out the reason for this. I had a guy working for me which then did not work out, after leaving my company he kept some of my business cards and contracts he had while working for me and proceeded to use them without my knowledge. I have had a few people call me and inform me of this but for a short period of time my voicemail box was full so I am just now learning of this issue. I spoke with [redacted] and expressed my apologies to him and paid him his payment of $[redacted] back to him even though it was not my doing. If he has a copy of the contract all will see this was not my handwriting on the signature, the check was not made out to me and I have never stepped foot on his property. My company was working in Fairfax at the time of this incident. Once again I apologize for the inconvenience to you and the customer. His payment has been repaid, the receipt for the money order is through [redacted] and the receipt number is [redacted]. Once again I express my apologies and would like this to be taken off of my business page on the Revdex.com website if possible. If you have any further questions you can reach me at [redacted], if you receive no answer please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I work in many different areas of Virginia so I am not able to contact everyone back right away.

Thank you for your time.
