On Wednesday 6/29/at about 3:00pm [redacted] called to state that he had run over [redacted] his pit bullmixHe was hard to understandI thought it might be our connection or him in a panic state of mind.When he arrived with a female and his injured canine I realized why I found it hard to understand him.The eyes of [redacted] were blood shot red, he smelled strongly of alcohol, and slurred his words**[redacted] gave consent to treat ***Our staff immediately stabilized ***, verified their find ings with XRays,and gave pain medication all at the request of ***The findings were that [redacted] had nofractures but had soft tissue damageThe doctor's recommendation was that [redacted] be on I.V's and restin our hospital under medical supervision for the nightAfterwards, [redacted] would need to be kept calmand quiet for to weeks at home** [redacted] refused the doctor's plan for [redacted] and requested to take [redacted] home against medical adviceThe female with him stated no [redacted] need to stay hereThey both leftthe building and went outside together under the assumption they were discussing thisDuring this timeI watched on our surveillance cameras ** [redacted] pacing and speaking very loudly at the femaleThefemale got back in the vehicleAt this time ** [redacted] came back in loudly stating he wanted to take hisdog homeI met ** [redacted] in the exam room where he told me he had only $I asked if he would liketo apply for Care Credit (a credit card company that has the possibility to be interest free)He told mehe had no income and had free health care under the presidential act declared by ***At this point** [redacted] was slurring his words worse than beforeI asked how he planned on paying for his servicesand he informed me that he had no plans on paying for it & that it should be free because of his freemedical careI informed him that it doesn't work that way and that we would keep [redacted] in our careuntil he made at least a 50% down payment, approximately $I tried to explain to him that wewould put a service hold on [redacted] and report it animal control** [redacted] leftLater that afternoon **.***'s mom ca lled and apologized twice for his son's behavior and volunteered to pay the downpayment for ***'s servicesThe next day payment was made and [redacted] was picked upWe have manypeople bring in their companions for emergency services at either of our hospital locations located inMyrtle Point and CoquilleThe problem here was that ** [redacted] informed me that he had no plans onpaying his billIf he had made some attempt to work out a payment plan I do not believe this wouldhave had to end th is wayI believe that ** [redacted] would have been more reasonable with his words andtaken some responsibility if it was not for his obvious intoxicationDue to the actions or inactions of **[redacted] I would recommend that ** [redacted] seek veterinary services elsewhereOur mission statement isto provide the highest quality professional veterinary care performed by a wonderful, caring, and welltrained team- [redacted] (Practice Manager)
