Nadeau's Landscaping Reviews (1)
I contracted with Nadeau Landscaping to provide my mowing, trimming, fall clean up and snow removal, beginning August 2012. In October I contacted [redacted] and let him know I had not received a bill. He promised to send it. However, I did not receive any bill until shortly before Christmas. Nonetheless, I paid it in full within two weeks. They had been mowing each week, whether the lawn needed it or not, so the bill was sizable. Later, I contacted them because they were charging me for snow plowing when there was only about an inch of snow and when I had already swept down the middle of the sidewalk. I asked them not to plow when there was only one inch of snow, as the snow usually melted by afternoon. I received no response to my request. I received a bill as usual and paid it. When spring hit, I wrote on their spring contract that I planned to seed the lawn and asked if they would wait a few weeks before beginning to mow. Again no response. I called after a few weeks and asked them to begin mowing. No response again -- I left the usual message on their answering machine. They did not show up. I called again, four more times. No response and so I sent a letter, asking them to let me know if they were no longer offering landscaping services. No response. I saw their truck in the neighborhood, so I know they are in business. I am upset by their lack of communication. I believe they are discriminating against me because I asked them not to plow when there was only one inch of snow. I would like an explanation for why they are no longer proving the services I contracted with them to do.Product_Or_Service: Lawn mowing and fall clean up Desired SettlementI would like them to either resume mowing my lawn, as promised, or provide me with an explanation for why they are not providing the service they promised to me. Business' Initial Response Please be advised that this former client was recommended to us by the prior owner of the property, who, by the way is still our valued customer at a new location within the Town.[redacted] as a new customer asked for quotes about doing her lawn which were provided to her and then waited until the lawn was two feet high before calling us to do the work. She complained when we charged more for her first cutting. She signed up for many services to be performed via our questionnaire, but when we would arrive to do those services, on numerous occasions those same items would already be done by her or others. Concerning snow plowing, Nadeau's Landscaping NEVER plows until snow accumulations are 2" or more. Because of [redacted]'s repeated changing of her mind, we no longer wished to have her as a client. Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I am not a new customer, as Nadeau claims, but have been working with this business for almost a year. I can provide the documentation to prove it, in the form of cancelled checks and a letter sent in the winter, thanking me for my business, and asking me to check off the services I want for next year. Hence, my request for an estimate was last summer and after receiving it, Nadeau began providing their services and provided them for almost a year. At no point did I wait until the lawn was two feet high. I had to call the business multiple times to try to get a quote at the beginning and when they finally came over to give it to me, (they did not let me know they were coming) they saw how long the lawn was (not 2 feet high but more like five inches) and they mowed it, charged me double and THEN gave me the quote, never mentioned that oh by the way this quote is not accurate because we are going to charge you double for the work we did without your permission. On the questionnaire (of which I made a copy and can provide) I signed up for some services (namely fall cleanup and mowing) AND asked for estimates of the cost of other services. The check off sheet listed no prices and I do not blindly sign up for services. The requested estimate were never received, nor did Nadeau call me or make any contact with me. After they had charged me for two times when the snow was either 1 inch long or I had already swept the side walk, I did phone and cancel snow plowing (BEFORE) they came another time. If they do not check their phone messages, it is not my problem. They appear to have no office staff but only an answering machine. To date they have not responded to more than ten phone messages and a letter to indicate they would not provide me further services. They also NEVER phoned or contacted to let me know there was any problem with showing up for services that were already done. I would be very curious what those services would be. My experience has been that they did NOT show up at all. With the exception of snow plowing, which involved in appropriate charging of services, I never changed my mind on any service. The fact that a customer changes her mind on one of many services is insufficient reason to cancel all of their services. Finally, the fact that the former owner of my home utilized your services or still does has nothing to do with the services I have or in most cases have not received. Nadeau engaged in inappropriate charging and failed to communicate regarding my request to continue their services. They also failed to provide requested estimates on trimming and composting, as I requested. Their business record is poor and this complaint stands.
