The customer referenced in the complaint presented his car for alignmentHe paid for an alignment and diagnostic for suspension problemsHe was informed that only certain adjustments could be rendered on the alignment, as he had a defective strut on the left front side of the vehicleThe "toe"
was set to eliminate that tire wear, and the strut repair was declinedI understand the cost of struts is higher than most are prepared for, and many cannot afford itHowever, the strut was (and is) still defective, and to fully align the vehicle, will need to be replacedThe price for any adjustments on the suspension components is the standard alignment feeThe price for diagnostics and checkout is also the same as a standard alignment The customer felt as if any work done, or any checkout and diagnostics, should have been free to him, since he declined the strutBut he did want the alignment done I explained that he owed for alignment or checkout, whichever he chose to call itI have my checkout and diagnostic fees and explanation posted in places inside of the customer waiting areaThe waiting are is foot by footIt is clearly posted, not hiddenMy technicians had time invested in his vehicle, and their time is how the shop and they get paidNothing is free Either way, he still needed a strut when he leftHe received a checkout and partial alignment for the price of either one individuallyHe then took car to another shop, and lo and behold, he hears that old mantra -the last shop deceived him! This is a common tactic used by many shops to try and discredit other shops and try to keep them from going anywhere elseI have been repairing and working in the automotive field for yrsI have heard this over and over, from dealerships to independent shops, to tire shops, to big chain shopsI refuse to use this tacticMy customers know better, and word of mouth is the only advertising I do I field the best and newest equipment on the auto repair market todayI do this to ensure diagnosis is correct, and my customers receive the best alignment and work availableMy techs are highly trained, and use this equipment every day, and I can assure you they are the best at what they do. It is unfortunate that shops these days feel the need to run down other businesses to make themselves look better, but as for me and shop, we will let our 30+ years of experience and our reputation stand as the sole reason our customers return to us.
