In December I had a neon sign that was damaged in shipping that I needed repaired. I searched on the internet and found Eagle Sign Co. in Des Moines. I live 2 hours away so I called them and asked if the fixed neon signs and was told by [redacted] the receptionist that they did. I told her that I needed a quote for insurance and gave her a time that I'd stop by to get a quote. Well I got there at the time and nobody was there to give me a quote so I had to leave it there. I pointed out some scratches I wanted fixed and [redacted] said "no problem, they can be fixed." I brought a picture of the sign and said I want it to look just like it did and was once again told "No problem it'll be like new." Before I left I asked what she thought it'd cost was told $200-$250. A couple of days later [redacted] called me and told me it'd cost $477 to fix. That was $50 more than my insurance would pay, but for $50 it wouldn't pay to drive 4 hours roundtrip and I thought at least it'd be fixed right. A couple weeks later I got a call saying the sign was fixed so I drove to Des Moines to pick it up. I got there and plugged the sign in and half of it didn't work. I was told a transformer was out. Why they told me the sign was fixed and made me drive all that way to pick up a broken sign I couldn't understand but I didn't say anything. [redacted] told me I could buy a transformer off the internet and they'd install it for $150. I could tell by looking at it, it'd take 5 minutes to fix so that was way overpriced. So I brought it to another place to fix it. That guy charged $50 for the transformer and labor. I also found out that Eagle Sign doesn't even fix neon signs. They bring them elsewhere and charge you $200 to bring it a few miles across town. So I called Eagle Sign back and asked [redacted] who fixed my sign. She asked why and I told her I had a question about it. I was told [redacted] fixed it. When I asked again if he fixed it, there was a long pause, since she knew that she was caught in a lie, and said that he "oversaw" the sign getting fixed. So I told her to have [redacted] call me back. He never did so I called back again a few days later and actually got a hold of him. I let him know that I was not happy about being lied to about the fact I was told they fixed signs when they don't and the fact my sign wasn't even working when I was told that it'd be like new when it was done. [redacted] said I was never lied to and this was common practice by Eagle Sign to have contractors to do their work for them. He offered to fix the transformer, but I had that fixed already, so we settled on $100 refund to pay for the repairs and some gas money and they still made money. [redacted] then said he'd call me in a few days. Two months later and [redacted] never called me back, but [redacted] called me back confusing me with another customer. I told her [redacted] told me he'd give me a $100 refund. [redacted] said she'd look into it and call me back. Later in the day she actually called and said she "looked" at my file and couldn't help. So I explained the situation and told her I noticed they didn't fix the scratches and put a wrong color tube in the sign. Then she said she'd talk to [redacted] and call me back. Shockingly [redacted] has never called back in over a month either. I've called a few times and asked for [redacted] and been told I'd be put through to him but it always goes to voicemail. I left a message and nothing. I assume that if he hasn't called me by now he'll never call back. My experience with Eagle Sign Co. has been nothing but a terrible experience. I feel like was lied to and they don't treat their customers with common courtesy like returning phone calls and keeping their word. Every time I look at my sign I regret bringing it to Eagle Sign Co.
