Nalyn's Goldens is a pet grooming and breeding business located outside of Madision, Wisconsin. We recently contacted Nancy about purchasing a purebred golden retriever pup. After meeting her, her dogs, and discussion our options, we chose to go ahead with the purchase. During our initial visit, there were many questions we wanted answered before committing to buy. Dog history, health and wellness, cost, how liters were chosen, food and overall wellness, and of course cost. Discussion of what order we would chose and what type of puppy we wanted were both discussed and noted. She appeared well versed and we were happy with our choice. We signed a contract, left our deposit and waited several weeks to contact her again waiting for the pups to grow. Once our check was cashed, we had several very negative experiences. Unanswered phone calls, unprofessional and very rude responses, and ultimately ignoring us until she was was ready to fit us in. 7 Weeks later, we finally arranged a meeting to see the pups and try and understand more about the timeframe for pick up and determining the exact puppy may get. We were told we were the third deposit, leading us to believe we were the third to choose. At the initial meeting, we made it clear we were seeking a male. This was noted on the "contract" we signed and she copied. Once we arrived, she was very hostile and on several instances when the notion of the male puppy was brought up, she responded that we should take a female, and why do we want a male so badly. I brought up the deposit order at which point she said, we were in fact never told that we were third. He/said she said conversations ensued. I finally brought up a link she had texted prior to us arriving about food and diet. It was a link that listed food that was sold directly through her for extremely high prices, and she requested a confirmation of sale. I just mentioned that we would be using our food, that we had discussed upon initial contact. At this point, she became very unprofessional and even hostile at times. She said she would never agree to feed her dogs anything other than her foods, calling all other foods poison. She stated that it was required to purchase her food in order to take a puppy. I provided the intital contract and pointed out, we left the line "Willing to feed our food" blank because we had discussed a different option. She told us that was our problem and she wouldn't sell a dog unless her food was given. This went against everything previously said and noted on the contract she copied. At this point, I noted we would not be paying $250.00 monthly for her food and diet services (which we later found out she is a sales rep earning commission for) and stated we would take back our deposit. The deposit become non-refundable at this point, again with no proof other than the "contract" we had signed at the initial meeting. While we take responsibility for not researching her more carefully (several similar stories) we felt it is important for people to hear about our experience so they don't have to go through the emotional rollercoaster of dealing with this breeder.
