In response to the letter dated March **, 2017, I repeat what was originally said in the first response to complainant's remarksComplainant approved the designThe panels were custom made to the heights and widths needed for the jobThe client has had possession of these custom panels since August He started to complain about the panels in January saying that some of the openings in the fretwork design were 4" and he wanted them smallerWe contacted him and offered to have these openings made smaller and he agreed to our doing thisHe was asked to indicate on the panels themselves which openings he wanted made smaller and then we would have the panels picked up and adjustedComplainant never contacted us that he was ready to have the panels picked up but instead chose to start a smear campaign on review sites and report my company to youCompany policy clearly states there are no refunds or cancellations on custom ordersAgain, I reiterate: if client is sincere about his motives, he simply needs to let us know he has indicated where he wants the adjustments on the panels made and let us know that he is ready to have them picked up so the adjustments can be madeThank you

I was hired in March of 2016 by [redacted] to do a complete renovation of the first floor of his home; this included a kitchen and a bathroom. The work done was done professionally, designed beautifully and completed on time. To give you a window, the home was designed in mid-century modern style...

with significant design elements such as stone rocks on the living room wall, aged bricks on the den wall and grasscloth wallpaper in the bedroom. The bathroom has a polished rock floor in the shower with jet sprays on the walls and white subway tiles throughout all the walls from floor to ceiling. The kitchen is a sleek white contemporary style with cesarstone countertops on the outfitted cabinets. Ceramic wood flooring was also installed throughout the home. [redacted] was so pleased with my work that he expanded the job to include among other things new exterior railings and fencing designed in a mid-century modern style, new windows and the whitew ashing of the exterior bricks of his home. This work was under my guidance as to scale, design and colorings. He also then extended the job to include the renovation of his basement. As to the custom made wood panels, [redacted] was concerned about providing enclosures for his dogs in his home and requested assistance to develop a design concept for this. To keep the integrity of the design style I was creating, I suggested wood panels with a design element. He agreed to the design I showed him and six custom panels were ordered and made. When the panels arrived, he was concerned with some of the openings in the panels because he thought his mid-size dogs could get their heads stuck in some of the small openings. I did not understand this logic but did not argue with him. I asked him to indicate where he would like additional slats inserted to resolve the issue. He did this and my carpenter took them back and added the additional slats where [redacted] indicated. When the panels were returned, [redacted] still was not happy with them although all the slats were inserted as to the specifications [redacted] provided. I offered to have them reworked but he said they were garbage and he did not want them anymore after all the workmanship had been done on these beautiful wood panels. All this occurred around September. Nothing else was said about the panels although he did use one of them in his home. If [redacted] had in fact thought they were “garbage” why would he have one panel installed as he himself states in the complaint? The panels were well crafted and stylish. A few months passed and there was no word about the panels. In January 2017 he suddenly began communications about them asking for information about the person who made them. This person is a trade source and only works with designers. I told [redacted] that he was away and would return in February. [redacted] said February [redacted] would work for the panels to be collected so that more slats could be put in. I told him to indicate where he wanted the extra slats put in so we could take care of this. I never heard back from [redacted] after this exchange in January. Time had passed and I was expecting for him to contact us and let us know he indicated on the panels where he wanted more slats and was ready to have the panels picked up. This is normal procedure. Curiously, instead, he chose not to do this and instead began a smear campaign by maligning my company and my professionalism by posting derogatory and inaccurate statements on review sites such as Google and Yelp and reporting my company to the Revdex.com (as evidenced by your letter to me dated March *, 2017 and the dates of the review posts). As I had told him in January, I am completely willing to collect the panels and have more slats inserted as I stand behind my work. However, he has to indicate on the panels where he wants more slats to be inserted and let us know when he has done so so they can get picked up. I do want to state that [redacted] approved the design of these panels at the onset. Had he been so concerned about the openings in relation to his dogs, he should not have approved the open work design and another design would have been offered. As for the lamp shades, there was no deposit or payment for them by [redacted]. At the onset of the project, many furnishings were purchased for the client and put in storage. Two lamps were included in all the purchases. The lamps were boxed and it was difficult to get them out of storage to have them measured so that custom lamp shades could be ordered. I explained this a few times to [redacted] because he felt a need to keep asking me about the shades. I told him that as soon as I installed him and the lamps were located, I would give them to the person who makes my custom shades and get that going. He knew about this. However, once I had the lamps in hand and called my shade person, I found out that she had retired and was no longer making shades. I’ve been working with this person for many years and she was my only source for custom lamp shades. When I told [redacted] this, he became obnoxious. I suggested that perhaps we can look for something online and he b ecame further inflamed. As for his request to return the panels for a refund, it is company policy that [redacted] is clearly aware of that there are no returns or cancellations on custom orders. This is stated clearly and prominently in my store as well as on my invoices. In summary, [redacted] was very happy with my work and that of my contractors. This is evidenced by his increasing the project from the first floor, to the exterior of the house and to the basement renovation. Additionally, at one point he was so delighted with the work that he bought my contractor a bottle of expensive scotch as a token of his appreciation. All the renovation work was completed at his home. To reiterate, if he would like to have more slats inserted, he needs to contact us and let us know that he has indicated where the additional slats are to be inserted and is ready for us to pick up the panels. I do wonder out loud if [redacted] in fact purposely did not contact me at the end of February 2017 to let me know that he had indicated where he wanted the extra work done on the panels and was ready to have them picked up so he could try to discredit me toward giving him a refund. In all my 30-plus years as an interior designer the Revdex.com has never had a complaint about me. My clients love me and find me very accessible. I will say that I was taken aback by [redacted]’s insulting and belittling attitude toward me as the project was nearing completion. I did not say anything and just tried to get the project completed but when the lamp shade situation happened, I had had enough of him. This complaint, the first one in my history, shows the mean spiritedness of this man as he also posted negative and derogatory remarks about my professionalism and my work on sites such as Google and Yelp. Once again, it was [redacted] who chose to have this drama opposed to doing his part in the resolution of the panels. If he truly wanted the panels fixed, he could have sent a message that he was ready and it would have been taken care of. This would have been the decent and forthright thing to do. Sincerely yours, Nancy R[redacted] Owner

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The business did not accurately or truthfully address the issue of the panels. I specifically indicated to Ms. R[redacted] via email on May **, 2016 at 9:39AM  that the openings in the panels were not to exceed 3". When I brought the issue to Ms. R[redacted]'s attention, she responded via text message on September **, 2016 at 7:28PM. Her exact words were, "I planned it this way as I thought 4" was not a big gap". I did not approve any openings greater than 3", nor did Ms. R[redacted] ever contact me for approval. She took it upon herself to make these changes, and is now refusing to accept responsibility. These panels were not made to my specifications, and I should not be forced to keep them because she made anauthorized changes.I have uploaded very specific facts and proof about this and other issues addressed in my complaint, along with written documentation between myself and Ms. R[redacted], which includes emails and text messages, as well as photos. All as proof of my statements and justifying my complaint.
